In regards to the ppl thinking the teleportation / telepresence is immersion breaking. What if my avatar in multicrew, is a virtual representation of the actual commander? Its remote controlled by a virtual avatar. Signals are tranferred through space instantly. Ships take time to transfer since they are physical objects, while this telepresence can be done instantly.
The problem with this is
1) Then why does the fighter have a 10km range? It's also controlled by telepresance. So is that range not actually a thing?
2) It negates the purpose of the ship in the first place. Why put a cockpit, a seat and life support in what is effectively a drone?
3) It pretty much destroys the premises of the game. We're supposed to be bad-*donkey* space pilots, not cowardly drone operators. Where's the appeal of being the first one to fly a drone onto a planet or killing a thousand other drones?
No, Long range Telepresance does more harm than good. FD should come up with an alternative for hot-join MP gunner mode.

Sadly some one will still take offense because space logic.
Sure, they don't complain about the multiple of other things in ED and don't make much sense (like 400 tons of cargo being loaded the instant you click Buy) but maybe it's taken a lot of effort to come to terms with such inconsistencies and this is just the straw that broke the camel's back.
I look forward to all the threads from these people listing all the other things in ED that just don't make sense and petitioning for them to be changed since immersion is so important to them.
How long should loading 400 tons of cargo take?
How long should you wait for your escape pod to travel an unknown distance back the last docked at station (rather than the nearest) after you die?
When will the artificial cap of speed be removed?
I'm not sure how deep this particular rabbit hole goes, I could be here some time listing all the things that don't make much sense.
Again, It's not about space logic, it's about being consistent with the rules that define the game-world.
Instant 400t loading doesn't damage the premise of the game. Neither, really does the escape pod magicing back to port (at least not when faced with the alternative). It's not reasonable to expect a player to log out the game for weeks while he's rescued. It is reasonable to expect that people who want to use the same ship actually are on the same ship.
On a personal note, I always assume that between I die and am "recovered" in my last port of call, that weeks has gone by with me in cryo-sleep. I don't MP elite, and the background story is of such little interest that such an *assumption* has actually helped me come to terms with the whole "rebuy" process.
