Patch Notes Update 2.3 The Commanders Beta - Changelog

I brought this up too. If the Asp can fit a second seat so can the Keelback, and as you say, we can launch a fighter from it. Additionally, in the tutorials, you get launched from a keelback by your mentor.

With the change list being so long, you can always hope they missed mentioning it!

;)

There is also no mention of Trappist-1 system being included, but there was an announcement saying it would

.. wait and see

* Decouple normal missions and passenger missions selection, so a full allocation is available to each type
- If I'm interpreting this right then this is MAJOR.. I think this means that you could have 20 active passenger missions and another 20 regular missions stacked!

Hi there,

That's not what this means.

Previously when choosing which missions to spawn, the normal and passenger missions shared an allocation. So selecting a passenger mission was effectively at the expense of generating a normal mission and vice versa.

Now they've been given their own allocation, so this isn't an issue anymore.

This was part of a raft of fixes and tweaks in the mission generation system to hopefully populate boards better and have fewer factions with 0 missions...

Hope this helps,
Dom

Very pleased with the amount of stuff this update is bringing forward and fixing but I do have a question. When 2.3 goes live out of Beta will those with base version of the game be able to get the update or is it a Horizon's only update, or another DLC you'll have to buy? I'll be pretty miffed if it's either of the later as I'm waiting on Horizon's to come on sale as I couldn't afford to buy both or the deluxe at the time.

It's a mixed bag.

I've just looked at Ed's OP post and it looks as if the Horizons's only bits are the Avatar creator and the Multicrew, and obviously any stuff for planet landings.
Nearly everything else seems to be tweaks and changes which you will be able to gain access to.
So that includes:-
Ship naming
Mission mechanic changes
Fixes to npc/AI.
and what sound's like a lot of UI fixes to make life easier.

I can of course be wrong, but that's how I read it.
:)

Looked at the character creator and it looks rely nice!
But there would be better if you could save a couple of characters, if you want to test a different approach but not want to delete your old profile.

I'm enthusiastically waiting for multicrew but 'Multicrew usage is based on the number of physical seats on your ship' will needlessly exclude newer players from the ability to fly together. Only the high-end ships offer three seats.

What's the thinking behind this barrier for less affluent players?

Naturally one of the features I want to use most[rolleyes]. It honestly feels a little like base game owners are left behind in terms of shiny new content. I understand they may want to keep some goodies for season pass players and that's fair and understandable but the pendulum is swinging a tad too far in one direction imo. It's still not gonna stop me from playing though. Hopefully there will be a sale for Horizon's soon.

Thanks for the reply though!

it shouldn't be too bad, it won't take even a new player very long to get a big enough ship to have at least 1 extra seat.

True not all ships can have fighter bays, but other than that, multicrew does need not a huge ship.

You can always join someone else's crew as a starting option.

Occupied passenger cabin modules can no longer be stored using the store multiple menu.

I had to do this as a workaround when some dudes got stuck in one of my cabins after a failed mission. Is that issue fixed?

When targeting a station's location ... tell you where the entrance of an orbis/coriolis/etc will be when you drop out

Like that there are lots of little QoL improvements, this one in particular is great.

2. It's something to do with the interactions of live servers with hordes of real people on them.

It's most likely 2.
Whenever I had this happen, it coincided with times where the entire mission board was behaving erratically, and certain active missions were listed without title or description text in the transactions panel.

There will be ... I suspect ... just as horizons 'season' is finishing and they move on to the next great "thing".

see you planetside then cmdr.

Some great features in here for sure.

Not being able to stack massacre missions is stupid however. In most systems, stacking is the only way to get a worthwhile payout in civil war systems. This was NOT an exploit. Most massacre missions that spawned over 2M credits had me kill several dozen NPCs in conflict zones. Sometimes I would drop in and randomly get attacked by the entire enemy fleet and having to exit immediately to repair. The combat bonds barely cover the maintenance expenses... And many systems don't even spawn that many massacre missions anyway... I think this was an unnecessary nerf since there is a level of risk involved.

Instead of dropping the nerf hammer on every activity worth doing, FD should create and control those lucrative activities, perhaps by making them temporary and challenging to find. Think of a community goal where instead of being announced it is secrete and you get super good deals on a trade route or a mission type for a couple of weeks but players would have to find these deals across the bubble ...

Ed Lewis, if you read this, please give it a thought ! Don't make it hard and tedious to make money, make in challenging and interesting !!

The Pilots chair in my Corvette is empty when my Cmdr is in the fighter, so much for telepresence and no NPC in sight, switch back to my ship and the fighter seat is now empty. The vanity camera is a nice bonus.

Also the helmet does not appear in camera view when you switch off the life support even though the visor view activates in first person, it could be a long beta.
