Patch Notes Update 2.3 The Commanders Beta - Changelog

I must be tired. I read "Lava Spouts" as "Lave Sprouts" and thought it was a new Rare.

Congrats to all on getting this "reduced" (but still monolithic) beta launched. I'm updating now and looking forward to a good play after I've eaten. My wife has been warned not to expect any further interaction for the next couple of hours. All the pieces are in place... :)

Sooooo...does anyone know what these challenges are? Are they like mini-games/missions or am I expecting too much?
No idea, but sound's like the training missions with a target or goal.
I have tried a docking under the clock at the Elite meet last year and it does put quite a pressure on docking a sidey while being timed and having fellow Cmdrs (actually in person!) standing around watching.
might be interesting. Next Meet, there might be some very close completion.

Asteroid base, Mega Ships, and new different settlement types is awesome

New prison type cabins is awesome

Stations in rings and asteroid clusters is awesome.

Those bits excited me Waaay more than Multi pew and Sims character creator.

More QOL, less bolt on's please

Hey Edward,

can you check if the weight of the ORCA was really lowered? i had that warm, fuzzy feeling and wanted back into the seat of that beauty, but the jump-range was still very low...

"Allowed the alternate control bindings to have inverted axis"

Wow, thank you! I submitted a ticket a long time ago about this! It will allow me to use both the M+K and the controller (latter for combat situations).
Although I prefer to jump into the fully fleshed out thing, You may have handed yourself one extra beta purchase, so that I can test it. :)

As an Alpha backer of this game i suggest you buy into beta then you will be able to test out your inverted axis for your mouse and keyboard, and as a bonus, look at yourself in the mirror using the vanity camara after creating a really COOL look for yourself,
whoooopppeeeeee. [heart] [haha] [wacky]

I'll be a bit dissapointed if these are just training scenarios...

With you on the QOL updates. There's already plenty to be doing.
but it does sound like they have tweaked the way various things work.
Mostly they sound like improvements. Let you know in a few hours!!

Estimated time has gone from 7 Hrs -> 8hr -> 1 hr -> 4 hrs -> 6hrs ... so how long it will actually be is anyone's guess

:D

That's an unbelievable amount of new things, was not expecting this to be such a huge update! Changes to missions and NPCs really do sound excellent.

Performance improvements for terrain on 4/500 series nVidia cards
^ This is very welcome, *THANK YOU*

Interesting stuff!

A few concerns and accolades:

- Despite being originally advertised as a cheap multicrew ship when released, the Keelback does not support multicrew despite clearing supporting an NPC crewman. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! Seriously, though ... if it supports a fighter bay and someone to fly them, it should have an extra seat added. Even if it doesn't make it into the beta, I strongly urge you to consider remodeling the cockpit area to put an extra seat in there somewhere.
I brought this up too. If the Asp can fit a second seat so can the Keelback, and as you say, we can launch a fighter from it. Additionally, in the tutorials, you get launched from a keelback by your mentor.

Very pleased with the amount of stuff this update is bringing forward and fixing but I do have a question. When 2.3 goes live out of Beta will those with base version of the game be able to get the update or is it a Horizon's only update, or another DLC you'll have to buy? I'll be pretty miffed if it's either of the later as I'm waiting on Horizon's to come on sale as I couldn't afford to buy both or the deluxe at the time.

We can only have 3 massacre/skimmer missions at a time. Oh well i never stacked them away but someone is going to hate that.

Also i didn't see anything about the Imperial Clipper but instead something about the Imperial Trader. Same thing or something new?
