Patch Notes Update 2.3 The Commanders Beta - Changelog

Some great features in here for sure.

Not being able to stack massacre missions is stupid however. In most systems, stacking is the only way to get a worthwhile payout in civil war systems. This was NOT an exploit. Most massacre missions that spawned over 2M credits had me kill several dozen NPCs in conflict zones. Sometimes I would drop in and randomly get attacked by the entire enemy fleet and having to exit immediately to repair. The combat bonds barely cover the maintenance expenses... And many systems don't even spawn that many massacre missions anyway... I think this was an unnecessary nerf since there is a level of risk involved.

Instead of dropping the nerf hammer on every activity worth doing, FD should create and control those lucrative activities, perhaps by making them temporary and challenging to find. Think of a community goal where instead of being announced it is secrete and you get super good deals on a trade route or a mission type for a couple of weeks but players would have to find these deals across the bubble ...

Ed Lewis, if you read this, please give it a thought ! Don't make it hard and tedious to make money, make in challenging and interesting !!

There are loads of ways of making good money. And stacking missions is an exploit in the first place. if you have two missions to kill 10 ships, sure you should HAVE to kill 20 ships to qualify. So don't whine about it, they have left a bit of an exploit for you.

If you want better paying missions, you should build up your local reputation with a system and then you will find higher value missions start to come your way. I mean you get missions like deliver 6 biowaste for 500,000cr! How easy is that ? ... And often you don't even get challenged. Couple that with mixing cargo and delivery missions to lots of close systems and you have a ready cash generation system that does not involve repairing 90% of you ship each time you manage to limp it home.

Or try exploring ... out and about for quite some time. avoid crashing into to many stars, then on return, pay-out of 10's of millions and your name as having first discovered some interesting and not so interested systems.

Or take part in a CG ... After a week (usually) the bonuses can be quite good and you usually get to claim loads of bounties on Pirate vessels in the process.

There's a load of options, you don't have to be a CZ junky to enjoy yourself.

Do bit's of everything and the credits will roll in.

I'm enthusiastically waiting for multicrew but 'Multicrew usage is based on the number of physical seats on your ship' will needlessly exclude newer players from the ability to fly together. Only the high-end ships offer three seats.

What's the thinking behind this barrier for less affluent players?

The first ship with multicrew is the Adder.

Trading missions have been nerved again?
Normally I see some 1-3 mio missions in Sol where im am allied to all.
In Beta there are only 300-500k Missions... that's sad...
If you fly larger ships with a rebuy from 10-30 mio, it feels right to have to do around 10 cargo missions per death. Now we are back at 20-60 Missions for one buy back.
The Missions are not scaling well for end game ships.

I agree that the 3 Mio cargo missions where a bit to high for early/mid game, but it could scale a bit with reputation AND trading rank again...

well 500000 credits is ... fantastic when just the Powerplant of an anaconda is worth 160M credits. If it takes you 20 mins to do that 500000 credit mission it will take you about 106.7 hours of just doing that mission over and over again just to buy a single module. No I am sorry that is not cool. If you have a civil war, you should be paying big money to insure your side wins, realistically.

But seriously, there will always be cracks in the system that people will find. Why not create and control the cracks instead of patching them up like that ? I think that is a positive way to deal with the situation.

The Detailed Surface Scanner engineer blueprints are a little odd because the DSS module itself does not report its scan range, scan angle or scan time attributes, so the blueprints that modify those attributes are harder to make sense of.

Also, and this has become one of my longest running pet peeves, the DSS *STILL* claims to use 0.6 MW of power in the in-game outfitter, but does not actually use any power while in flight. This discrepancy has existed since the original pre-1.0 beta and has been reported repeatedly since then, and has never been fixed, and it's especially bizarre now that there is going to be an engineering blueprint that modifies DSS power draw even though the DSS does not actually have any power draw.

does the 1 billion credits work in this beta if you delete your save ?
General feeling is NOT!

Try it if you like, but you might be disappointed!

I believe (read it somewhere on forums) that all Beta players get a minimum of a million credits, but that assumes your Cmdr at the time was rather strapped for cash, don't know if it affects richer Cmdrs.

;)

This is great. Finally have NPC's acting normally. Before they were saying things like, "I want it all!" when there was no way they could hold all I had. Had a pleasant surprise when I had one make a reasonable demand. Of course I didn't drop cause I was carrying contract freight. It wasn't mine to give.

And I love the avatar creator. Yes, my avatar on here is what shows in game, although the signature file may take a bit of time to update. And I'll be glad when they release in-game name plates in the store. But I understand, this is a Beta so no rush.

Great work guys. Really loving it.

Have you purchased Beta Access? If not, it won't be available to you until 2.3 goes to the live production server in a month or three. If you have purchased Beta Access, raise a support ticket as it is up there. You might have to scroll down in the list in your launcher. You should see Elite Dangerous: Horizon - Commanders Beta (2.3). It's about 5 down on my list. You won't see it unless you scroll down.

Well if your trying to maintain such a big ship, it's bound to be expensive!.

I was only using the delivery mission as an example. I mean 500,000cr for a cobra owner is a lot of money. Would buy and practically A rate another one in one trip.

And it doesn't cost billons to maintain, you could still do CZ's and if you get blown up, ... so what Cobra's are cheap.

What is it with you humans and size?

;)

I am not sure I want to try it when I have a fully kitted asp exp worth 50million and about 10 million in credits, but I remember in one of the old betas you got 1,000,000,000 credits if you deleted the save, that would enable me to fully test out everything in the beta, different ships etc..

but it seems to risky for me to try

Sounds a bit clinical to me, pirating as a career, not the scurvy sea-dog pirates we are used too!

500k is one rebuy for my A-Rated, Engineered Cobra MK III. So I'll take it!

.......... and what, you can trade in the anaconda in trade build, it took me a nearly a year to buy the annie and another few months more to make trade elite in A-B trading in Imp slaves-superconductors etc. You shouldn`t be able to earn an annie in a few days and make elite in two weeks or less, its a bit of a joke that you could.

if it is like earlier Betas, then all ships and modules will be cheap. seemed to be around 10% of normal price.

can anyone who's downloaded it confirm? .... oh silly me they'll have stopped reading by now ;)

Well, everyone has to do something. And real pirates would want cargo unless they were psychopaths. True pirates only kill when they have to. They'd much rather grab the booty, scram and have a drink in the bar. Killing someone takes too much time and then there's the cops to think about. No, this implementation makes much more sense.

Loving the new pirate NPC behaviours chaps! Was much more authentic

Please, when will name plates be added to the store, I want to throw money at your sexy selves!
