Patch Notes Update 2.3 The Commanders - Changelog

SRV - "Fixes known cases where nearby objects can be omitted from the scanner (some entirely, some would be audio-only)."

Thank you!

ok the volume has definitely been dropped for me by at least half so i HAVE to use BOOST setting and the computer is STILL quieter so i guess her voice was dropped by 75% volume wise. i still prefer hearing the low notes build to to the boing when disco scanning instead of only the beeps. it doesnt feel like my scanner is building power up to do a whole system range scan now. just feels now like its a timer to stop you doing the boing as soon as you press the button, but that no real power is involved. i really dont like the audio volume quietening. i think it was ok as it was with the disco too. i should not have to leave the game on boost permanently - and its just elite, i have played mp3 and another game the volume was normal still.

i am noticing my cockpit is looking as used as my paint job atm, being in deep space nothing i can do about it but its nice to see the detail of wear and tear inside as well as out.

EDIT: the honk charge sound issue is a known issue so i wont complain again (the charge is missing the beeps are regular and the boing happens) but the quiet audio except on boost audio setting and the extra quiet computer voice is not.

I've noticed sounds in the SRV are considerably lower for me.. metallic meteors are too quiet now..and the tyre noise is drowning out almost everything TBH.

Other audio applications, mp3s, my old vinyl collection and MIDI keyboard sound amazing..yet Elite seems to be getting worse.

Please DEVS, give us the option to further adjust sound volumes..
Id suggest go back to what the sounds were like maybe in 2.2 , then triple the volume of the files
and give us sliders to alter specific volumes or channels to suit our preferences.
ie tyre noise, laser blasts, SRV engine whine...etc..

I am using desktop front speakers, ( ok its an old set of harmon/kardons maybe +10year old now, but still as clear as crystal ), with my stereo system behind me in the room as the rear speakers source, effectively a 5.1 surround system without the need for a sub-box. Also using the Boost option ingame because it seems to give the clearer sound scheme overall.

Apart from sound issues I think the game development is progressing well, looking forward to what is still to come.
Keep it coming :)

The mission limiting is quite disappointing as I (as a new player) really didn't have a good alternative way to make decent money.
Some of the features look interesting to me, particularly the ability to change camera positions and get a good look around my ship and such. The telepresence for multicrew feature is a bit... I don't want to say game breaking or immersion breaking but, it introduces an element to the game which does not seem to jive well with the other technological limitations to Humans that are present in the game. It kind of makes boom time data deliveries seem a bit silly. Why couldn't that data have just been transmitted instantly from one station to the recipient without my involvement? If you can project my presence instantaneously across potentially 65,000 LY, don't tell me you can't figure that one out - lol. So while I actually do like some aspects of the multicrew idea, it needs a better reason (imo) to justify it's ability to exist.
Lots of the bugfixes were stuff I had never encountered personally, but I hope that they serve the intended purpose for those who were effected. I also hope that the CPU load optimizations work for me, especially in areas where there are a lot of NPC ships dog fighting and such.
Overall I'm still excited to play this release, if it would ever g download! 10.5GB is a whopper of an update!

Change pirates that interdict the player to always scan (rather than sometimes attacking without scanning), and to dismiss the player and fly off if the player doesn't have any/enough cargo

THANK YOU!!!

In relation to the Asps, if you went round in classified cam and looked, you'll see underneath in the bomber cockpit on the Asps I think they were completely empty, no chair. Or there may have been a seat, but no dashboard.

Lost over 30 million for a community goal

I have not logged into game besides seeing a news article that there was a new update. I log in to find my community goal which I had not had a chance to collect my reward for is gone. Thanks frontier on wasting a week of my time to randomly update the game without even sending out an email to your players. While not even managing to save their progress!! What a game!

This is outstanding update. I have to admit. Of the MANY MANY entertainment games I have played, Frontier really came thru and had shown they do listen to the player base.
They have not only 'shown' action when needed, they have moved beyond that and produced results. I hope other companies out there would take this as a learning moment and follow suit in listening to the player base.

Well done fellows. I hope you've been promised some down time. Or at least a few pomts to knock back

What is this for?
^The Data Link Scanner.

It scans ships, but not stations. You have to get within 200m and NPCs do NOT like being scanned - they duck and weave all over the place and because you're so close its difficult to keep them in the scanner's window. The only sure way to scan a ship is to wait for it to dock, then it sits still while you scan it.

The Scanner itself draws 0% power, can't be powered down but does have a power priority setting, so can be set to 5 (though it twice went back to priority 1 all by itself). You have to add it to a fire group to use it.

Having scanned some ships all I had to show for it was complaints from NPCs asking me not to scan them and the outpost (Hutton Orbital) complaining about me having weapons deployed. I also picked up a fine...

Not interested in any of the revisions, but it looks like it's going to be about sixteen hours before I can play because of a download speed much lower than my available speed. Thanks FDev!

Logged in yesterday to set up my commander. Tried to find a multicrew ship but none were available. Not that I'm terribly amazed about multicrew at this point anyway.

Why would anyone use Multi Crew now ?

No Offense but there is simply no reason to. Because lets face it. Anything you can do in MC is just much more Effective by just making a Normal Wing.
So just like Naming your Ship or having Blue Lasers. This is effectively just an Cosmetic Update.
No Correction. It is in fact less than that. Because it effectively weakens you and Cuts your Profits because by not doing it you would make more Money and be able to be Stronger in Combat.

So why would I feel Ashamed about not bothering with this rubbish ?

As a note: Just because YOU do not play that style doesn't mean others don't. You are being SERIOUSLY naïve if you think you have the ONLY way to play.

For example: I have a friend that doesn't fly very well... I do, but I don't shoot very well and she does. As a Multi-Crew that is wonderful. We plan to open a Passenger line. There is a future plan to set up a mining ship when that is added for Multi-Crew with another friend. There are 2 functional reasons Multi-Crew is used and that is just off the top of my head.

You are thinking too small.

Pretty much all ships have been outfitted with multi-crew, what do you mean you can't find one?

Seems that the Dolphin isn't included for those without Horizons according to this...

You are correct, it needs Horizons to use it (It's only 16.75€ at the moment on Steam)
