LOL fdevs

Update is not even online and they're already trying to sell us new stuff

https://twitter.com/EliteDangerous/status/912635417463332865

They do have a business to run after all. So why should you or anyone care? Especially if you/they are "Non-purchasers" anyway, it has little to no impact on you. Let others enjoy the game and in game purchases they want it is not play to win so has no bearing on game play.

Oops .. i had expected Superlarge Ships like the Narwal, Panther Clipper/Panther LX, and the Type 10 Defender, and the requirement for this would be landing on planets with Athmosphere. Walking on ships, stations, planets (with atmosphere) and driving with the buggys (more than the scarap) on planet, but nothing. So it seems to be, that with this Update nothing fundamentel new is coming. What a pity.

Indepenendtly to these i am curious to see what the new fixed and features will bring to the game, and how long these could be interesing to an extende player. So far ...

The Type 10, Thargoids and other mysterious stuff is content that gets revealled as events happen. It might be that we get a Galnet story that triggers an event, and that the Type 10 is a response to other in game happenings.

New Content & Features (Horizons)

  • Added mysterious and exciting things...
  • Added mysterious locations we're not going to tell you about...

New Content & Features (Non-Horizons)

  • Added more mysterious locations we're not going to tell you about...

Fixes and Improvements

Audio Fixes and Improvements
  • Mysterious audio for mysterious things.....

General Fixes & Tweaks

  • Added some mysterious things which get unveiled over time...

Stability Fixes

  • Added a cool mystery thing...
  • Added another cool mystery thing.....

Weapons

  • If you're still reading this we're definitely not telling you about the mysterious things, you'll have to wait and find out......

I'm the type of person that opens the post the instant it arrives. Must. discover. secrets.

But seriously, all patch notes are awesome, nice work Fdev :)

So, couple of questions to all that may know;

I've updated the client/launcher now so it loads the game screen then fails to login, which is as we all expect presently; is that all I need to do or does Steam need to update anything also? (it did as mentioned by others install it to a non default location so I cut n pasted the files overwriting the existing in the correct folder, so Steam loads the new launcher not the outdated one)

I am currently on a Passenger Mission on the way back from Sag A* to Colonia and landed on a planet for the night having made it to The Centre yesterday evening, will I still get my rewards etc. when I return or is that likely to be wiped? (I seem to remember it was before in a previous update), I'm hoping to make use of the new 20KLy plotter on my return.. :)

Fly Safe CMDRS o7

...Added cool mystery thingie . and even more cool mystery thingie...

Under 'general stability fixes' ??

If that's not just good humor, does it mean something like 'crash avoidance by introducing Thargoid firing their green flashy thingy'?

;) Let's have a look...

They haven't said missions will be wiped, so should be fine.

My thoughts on some of these changes:

Audio Fixes and Improvements
  • Fixed an issue where the "Shields offline" audio played after every jump when shields were turned off
- Thank goodness you nailed this one, it would have driven most explorers bonkers pretty quick!

Galaxy Map/System Map

  • Fixed an issue that caused route plotting to plot a route twice if you have neutron star boost turned upon starting a new game session
  • Fixed an issue whereby long range route plotting failed to update route target after 1000 ly jumped
- Glad that these got sorted, the target not updating issue in particular was going to render the shiny new 20 KLy plot range almost worthless.

Missions

  • Ship kills, and actions to complete planetary hack and disable missions will now only contribute to a single mission, this will be the earliest mission accepted

  • Fixed some over-inflated mission rewards
  • For ship kill missions, the mission giver is considered when deciding if a kill should count. This allows for some mission stacking, but only when missions are from different factions
  • Multiple Planetary Scan missions will no longer complete after a single scan
- Some good looking fixes for long running exploits that might even work!

  • Added support for missions allocating additional rewards based on station distance from the jump-in point
- Ooh!, maybe we could get offered some insane reward for delivering something to Hutton Orbital!

NPCs

  • Trigger-happy NPCs will now only shoot missiles once the target's shields have dropped
- less missile spam is always a good thing, especially since they seem to have an unlimited supply

  • Fixed the falling skimmer issue that could occur on planet surfaces
- Yay!, commanders everywhere can rejoice about not have to nervously approach planetary bases, wondering if a skimmer will land on them.

Server

  • Various reliability and performance improvements
- This stuff is always welcome no matter how you play

Manual Launcher update instructions for Steam users.

1) Close Launcher
2) Go to the game folder (C:\Program Files x86\Steam\steamapps\Elite Dangerous\)
3) Run EDlaunch.exe and it will update automatically.

Cheers!

Thanks dev's..

...but forgot to include the following in the patch notes:

"Beluga
* reduced fins."

Seriously though, thanks heaps for all your hard work. :)

I've played lots of different MMOs and they implement factions/guilds/clans/kinships differently. Just because what you want to happen isn't the way Elite is doing things doesn't mean they're not in the game.

I've made 4-5 guilds/clans/factions (all ended no.1 in different games and usually stayed at the top for months/years/to the end of the game/...) , ranging from 60 people to 600, so I've got quite a good idea, what a bloody guild or clan is and how it operates and what tools it should include. I have seen more advanced guild systems in worthless browser games.

if you get a tag, that doesn't mean you're in a clan/guild, you are there only in your imagination.
