Does anybody know why the new launcher (0.4.6324.0) wants to be installed to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Frontier\EDLaunch" folder?

First, that path is for 32 bit applications (I know that the launcher itself is a 32-bit exe, but the rest of the game is not), and second, my copy of the game is installed to a completely different folder.

Shouldn't the updater be able to auto-detect the correct game folder?

If I accepted the offered path (which is not even an existing location in my current setup), now I'd have 2 different versions of the launcher installed into two separate directories.

Does every user really need to know the exact whereabouts of their game files by heart (it can be especially tricky for Steam users)?

Mine installed automatically (or rather by default) over top of my existing E drive location. Non Steam.

I like the attention to detail .... the game is no longer broken !

  • Fixed a small dot that appeared next to the throttle pin on several ships

Manual Launcher update instructions for Steam users.

1) Close Launcher
2) Go to the game folder (C:\Program Files x86\Steam\steamapps\Elite Dangerous\)
3) Run EDlaunch.exe and it will update automatically.

Cheers!

It's not that simple. At least if you don't want to end up with two different versions of launchers installed at the same time.

This is how it works actually:

1, 2) See above
3) Run EDLaunch.exe
4) Download the updater
5) Close the launcher
6) Run the updater
7) The updater will offer "C:\Program Files(x86)\Frontier\EDLaunch" as the installation path, but this is not correct, so:
8) Change it to [your Steam folder][your Elite Dangerous folder under steamapps]
9) Don't forget to delete the "\EDLaunch" folder from the end of the line, because your current launcher is not there
10) Now you can accept the path and continue with the installation

I've made 4-5 guilds/clans/factions (all ended no.1 in different games and usually stayed at the top for months/years/to the end of the game/...) , ranging from 60 people to 600, so I've got quite a good idea, what a bloody guild or clan is and how it operates and what tools it should include. I have seen more advanced guild systems in worthless browser games.

if you get a tag, that doesn't mean you're in a clan/guild, you are there only in your imagination.

Wow that's quite a lot of rage for a post that wasn't even directed at you. Obviously though you are an amazing gamer, shame that you don't understand how things work in this game which, considering how long you've been here, is surprising.

26.09.2017:
Still nothing to manage.
Still a grind game where ONLY BRABEN play. Players watch, grind and read.
This game will be soon old, and still a game of 1990.

No real trade. No factions. No pvp. No Colonisation.
Only RP, on the head.

You can manage power to your modules :p

Actually I'm going to stop there as I think the rest of your post shows you were just baiting.

How is any of that relevant to Elite Dangerous. As it goes, I have had similar experience of guild in other MMO's as well. But it has nothing to do with ED.

Players that have you on their sensors are now informed when you enable or disable "Report Crimes Against Me". Additionally, enabling crime reports now has a 15 second delay before actually becoming active (there is currently no delay when disabling crime reports)

With this in PVP, that schould stop some crying about attacking ships with crimes on, then cry later that cops came to aid... Since there is quite lots of cmdrs who happly pull out others from SC (Like in CG's), and attacking right away, expecting or even demand sometimes that they schould have crimes off...

I can not wait to play, but I would bet that there were some new planet to land on... Horizon is about planetary landing, all planets not only the airless one and this is the last update

Nope. Horizons is about planetary landings on Atmosphereless planets only which we have. Where you got that information from, I have no idea, but it isn't coming in the Horizons season.

Ship Rebuy Penalty – When a player commits the crime of murder (PvP only), an additional cost is added if they swap to a less expensive ship before paying legal costs during the rebuy flow
Exemption for valid Powerplay PvP
Pilot’s Federation Bounty – When a player commits the crime of murder (PvP only), they receive an additional Pilot's Federation Bounty. This bounty is valid in every jurisdiction except anarchies
Exemption for valid Powerplay PvP

Hopefully this will end the griefers.

Can't wait to check out the new patch. Been looking forward to it. One thing i didn't see (unless i missed it). is the connection to the game (PS4) fixed. loading from the PS4 main screen, during game boot you have to exit out to settings>network>un check the network box and recheck it to force the game to connect to the game servers. has this been fixed or will i have to continue to do this?

again great work, and looking forward to trying it out tonight after work.

That was quite the read, lots of fixes and tweaks, love it.

Mentioning the mysterious things a couple times might be an indication that there are a great heap of,.... well.....mysterious things.
I'm realy realy curious how things will unwind in the comming period.

Well done FD, I hope the update will go smootly, for us but also for you, you guys must be pretty excited too, knowing all the stuff that we don't.
