25 million weekly upkeep cost for Fleet carriers…

Yeah, I'll only have the Bar because the area looks good. The bartender will be used as a storage space for extra mats (don't no one go buying my stuff!). Pioneer Supplies I'll probably mothball until I want to buy e-breaches and such. Awesome gameplay.
You can transfer via your ship without having to list them for sale or sell them to the carrier. ;)

Just bought Tides of Avarice for X4. Can be pretty grindy, but I get custom gamestart to bypass the redundant grind and concentrate on what I like best. And there is no feature that requires me to keep playing in order to pay some bogus upkeep. I play in my own time and not in some limits some dev sets.

Hi All :)

So....Has anybody any idea how much a Carrier costs in upkeep if I just have a basic Carrier just to store my ships and commodities.
Any information welcome!

Jack :)
Hi the100monkey :)

I'm presuming the 5 million is per day?

Jack :)
Hey Jack! The base upkeep cost of a fleet carrier without any extra services is 5 million credits per week. You can store your own ships and modules on it, as well as up to 25,000 commodities.

You won't be able to rearm, refuel or repair at it without adding on some extra services. But it'll function as your personal mobile hangar and commodity storage bay just fine. :)

Bit costly do we think? This figure is inclusive of all services of course. Would be nice to see all the services at least, without the cost. Glass doors?
Super nice update though. The best since odyssey released in my opinion.

I agree with that above. On my FC I went from 11 to 28M per week (plus spent circa 1,5B for purchase of modules ... especially that half functioning shipyard without service installed was quite a shady move) and I have there few suspended services for times when they will be needed (without need to jump to FCs administration system) else it would be something like 32M per week. I too think that it is little too costly ... I know that there is not hard to get money in ED once you have some experience, but 150% increase feels to me like too visible push for more playing (which have quite opposite effect if it will start feel like a job). I may end with removing of some services, but having half functional FC (when there are all those nice interiors) is not something what I like either ...

... I know well how to make money in ED, I however like doing numerous other things which are much less profitable (and all this need gaming time which is limited).

Yeah the problem isn't getting money, the problem is getting that amount of money when you enjoy doing the activities that don't pay 25mil per hour. So effectively any Ody missions are ruled out for a start.
I did a "Kill ... Smugglers" mission yesterday (by accident, I was doing "Kill .,. Pirates" and accepted it by mistake). It was to kill 12 smugglers and paid 17MCr. Took about 15 minutes including figuring out what to do, and looting crates afterwards. I could see this paying 100MCr/Hour with a little practice, and it was nice to change things up from killing pirates. (Although, the pirates and smugglers are from the same faction. I'm not popular with them).

As long as there is upkeep I am not going to own a FC anyway. I don't like the idea of being forced to play when I want to take a break for a few weeks or months. I guess it's not going to change and nobody cares though.

Have fun with your lousy carriers! :p

Hi All :)

Apologies for being dumb, I've briefly read the sticky topic ( Fleet Carrier FAQ ) but was still wondering what facility's a Basic Carrier comes with.
Does it include for example a cartographic data transfer section, and I presume it doesn't come with a shipyard?
I'm not considering any new features that Update 11 brings to a Carrier btw. as I don't think I would use them at the present.

Jack :)

Fair enough, I understand that point of view. But just to say, you aren't strictly "forced to play" - My carrier has plenty of cash in the bank, and if I moth-ball all the services, it would be fine for many years.

You hit the jackpot then, I've never seen any Ody bounties outside of CZ's bring in that much. Its normally peanuts.

That's a shade more than what I pay for mine and I barely even notice it. If you've got to the point of buying a carrier I'm not sure why you'd have difficulty funding it.

IIRC you get a shipyard for your use only for swapping out ships and modules as well as a commodity market. However, buying refuel, restock and repair modules won't be a significant jump in upkeep, relatively speaking and are very much worth the cost IMO.

Not exactly a mission, but you can drop in an on-foot high cz in odyssey and chain it for an hour.
If properly equipped for the task, you'll cover at least a couple of weeks
Ok yes you can do CZ's, but not really a mission or something I actively look to do for fun, if you are going to do that may as well go just grind the passenger missions. Again point I was making is not all activities that people want to do pay enough to fund carriers. Yes you can do X or Z activity, but if you don't enjoy it that isn't great gameplay.

I get it, but i dont feel like all activities should be paying generously well... All of them
In that case, they could as well either remove credits from the game or give us credits by the hour for simply being online and doin nothing.

Although I would suggest the things in the game that don't fund a carrier are things you don't need a carrier for.

These are the only included core services:

It has an owner-only variant shipyard and outfitting installed, so you as owner (and you alone) will be able to store modules and ships on your carrier.
Thats it.

1 Robby passenger run is 20+ million credits, 2 runs etc.....
One night of gentle Robbys will keep you going for a few months, not that stressful really.
