Hardware & Technical 2nd graphics card - 4th monitor?

Hi, as the thread title suggests i want to know if installing a second graphics card in my pc will enable me to run a fourth monitor alongside my 3 screen eyefinity setup.

3 screens are great for a lot of things but watching video isnt one of them, have video playing in full screen on the centre monitor and the two to the side turn black.

what i want to do is connect my TV up via a second card to use just for video output.

does anyone have a setup like this running? if so any advice?

If you just want a 4th screen for stuff, depending on your CPU you may not need another card, just use hdmi out on motherboard.

There is an option in Bios to select primary video adapter, try making GPU primary and disabling lucidvirtuex or whatever it is called.

Might work - I've not played around with that for ages.

Depends.

If you do not use the cards in crossfire, then you can probably add up to 3 more monitors on the second card.

If you crossfire the cards, then you are limited to one card's output only.

Last, on some card models, using the DP connector can often be used for more than one monitor. http://www.displayport.org/cables/driving-multiple-displays-from-a-single-displayport-output/

no graphics output on the motherboard unfortunately - but i do have a second graphics card knocking around somewhere that i can bung in, just need to know if its worth digging for.

no crossfire on the second card anyway so looks like that's the way to go, shutting down - i may be a while

I was just playing the alpha combat build on Factions, as often happens when getting involved in that mess i had my asp handed to me 'eject eject' you know the drill. suddenly out of the corner of my eye i caught sight of the distinctive triangular rear end of my escape pod thrusting away under its own power off the side of the left hand monitor.

hand on heart - if it wasn't an escape pod it was doing a VERY good impression of one - including a thruster at each corner.

I'll see if i can do it again and catch a screen shot of it, wasn't anywhere near the kb when i saw it.
