Nice! What a bunch of pleasant surprises, awesome. A chieftain variant with a fighter bay. Those new guardian based fighters look sleek. I know it's not warp effect, but those lined exhaust trailers (reminiscent of ST:TMP warp effect design) look nice as the fighters approach the thargoid ship. Can't let NMS have all the 'Homeworld' looking thrust trails, haha. Intriguing , spooky, monolithic guardian looking stations to discover. Nice job FD. [up]

Good post because it brings out the video, but there's now a stickie up the top, called Gamescom 2018 which looks like it will be the mega thread.

I saw that thread but couldn't find any useful info or links in it, so I went straight to YouTube instead.

I wonder how many missiles the large missle rack will hold? The Medium holds 3 times as much as the Small, so if that held true it would be 54. Wonder how it will compare to the Pack Hound?

I also wonder if the damage will be the same as the medium and small one. I would take more damage over more amo.

I currently have 2 of my Class 3 slots on my Krait fitted with Packhounds (one drag one thermal damage), simply because I find them too useful not to have. I would love it if the Class 3 seekers were good enough to jusitfy moving the Packhounds to my smaller ships. (oh, my mediums slots have Imperial Hammers on them, that's why they're on the Large slots)

You have to take into account the clip size:

1B Seeker: 6 clip + 6 reload = 12 missiles
2B Seeker: 6 clip + 18 reload = 24 missiles

I am guessing that the rate will double like it does with all storage based modules:

3B Seeker: 6 clip + 42 reload = 48 missiles

With an ammo mod that would be:

3B Seeker: 12 clip + 84 reload = 96 missiles (x40 damage each = 3840 damage total)

2B modded Packhound: 24 clip + 240 reload = 264 missiles (x7.5 damage each = 1980 damage total)

The burst DPS of the Packhounds would still be better though, unless the 3B Seekers had a better firing rate (double shot etc).

Wow, I forgot missles did so much damage individually. Also, I thought the clip load in outfitting was the full amount, and the first part was just how much it held at a time (whoops!)

Looks good to me... gonna miss those Pack Hounds if it works out that way ;)

If anything the fire rates will just keep me from spamming the missiles too fast (love those swarms ;) )

Although the other advantage I found with Packhounds was against things like point defense. If you're looking to tag with a special effect like drag, then firing of 12 of those means at least one is probably going to hit.

Will be fun to play around with at any rate.

Chance are I'll want to go to some Guardian ruins after the update and maybe head out to Colonia for some more Engineer unlocking ;)

A big thx for the heads up. A good update for the combat crew. Some of this stuff I might finally finish my thargoid ship killer and take one on. Zero for any story content. Guess we will be waiting for Q4 to see if this game is pushing mp only or actually putting in game story content for everyone else.

Engineers in Colonia seems mostly like fodder for those who want fast travel in the game, unless they're a repeat of what's already in the bubble. I kind of like Colonia being meaningless in the meta, but meaningful for those who find meaning in it for themselves. Ah well, it's not like we can have nice things anyway that mean something outside of the meta. :p

Is it time to move to the LMC yet? ;)

So the only political faction without it's own SLF capable medium ship is the Empire.
Alliance has SLF capable medium ship.
Fed's have SLF capable medium ship.
Empire: A large ship with medium ship handling and silly hard point placement. No SLF.
Well if nothing else this really strengthens the case for a medium Imperial ship!

I'm looking forward to the new Guardian stuff to find and interact with. I just hope FDEV give regular folks, such as myself (who's only done as much exploration as is required to unlock Palin), a place to start looking and fathom the rest from there.
It would suck if I got home from work Tuesday evening, downloaded the update just to find it had already been Foddered (discovered by Canonn and plastered all over the forum). It would also suck massively if the only way to unravel all of this is with out of game tools and specialist knowledge that I would only possess if I had worked in some deeply sciencey job for the last God knows how long.
Note to self: avoid any discussion of same on the forum on release day.

P.S. The above is not a dig at Canonn just a hope that a more conventional intellect can achieve the same results without having it explained step by step.

Yes, absolutely agreed. There are technically "meta" reasons to be out at Colonia for some professions (every ring being pristine is really convenient for miners, for instance) but they're not ones worth travelling just to get.

I'm not expecting Colonia to get exclusive blueprints - the outfitting theme so far has been mining+exploration and neither really have any blueprints to begin with. I guess we could get exclusive access to G5 Fuel Scoop and Refinery and no-one would mind...

If Colonia get exclusive blueprints the accusations of pandering to specific groups I've read of late would light up like a firework factory torched by a particularly demented arsonist!

Agh. I just finished filling up all of my Guardian mats and blowing them like a completionist. Time to head back out since I'm not done and the DBX gets there fast. Well, after weekly server stuff if done that is.

Yeah, a Chieftain with a spoiler, my dreams come true :D Yamiks, look, this also might be something for you ;-)

ok, let's be honest here, this is not really much.

Engineers in Colonia: cool for all players there. For all others not very usefull but ok
Guardian fighters: well...yeah why not, but again, pewpew, not more
Planetside wing missions: might be nice but not really overwelming here
New weapons: Again, more pewpew
Tech-Broker Stuff: Will see what this will bring to the game
new ship: Oh come on FD you can't be serious here. This is more or less a carbon copy of the chieftain with a spoiler attached. This is LAZY guys!

Before anyone is start hating this comment: I absolutly like elite dangerous. It is still one of my favorite games but after they told that beyond will mostly be about making the core mechanics better it is a bit of a let down to see this.

Hope that Q4 will be the big hit. And no, i don't want to be salty. Again i love elite dangerous. But damn FD just go one step beyond with your current ideas.
