3 years without new ships and 6 years without new srv.

It is disappointing that after so long we have not received anything from the title, with the introduction of Odyssey, some of us were hoping to see some of this in May, but in the end nothing at all. The only thing we can hold onto is the April Leak, but for the CM and frontier, that doesn't exist, even if they have it in front of them. Neither new weapons for the ships or new sizes of the existing ones or being able to engineer the experimental ones. The only thing we have is an eternal arbitrary silence that could be solved with a resounding confirmation in a post or in a teaser on YouTube like the Mamba. But if they have time for a temporary story that after that time disappears and a new player who arrives after the event will not see it, because the only thing that persists is everything they have added to their galactic sandbox (ships, weapons, enginers, srv, slf, etc ...)

People were not expecting a new ship untill the anniversary of the last one for phantoms/mamba being 3 years old in December...
But EDO has been delayed and its not released on all platforms so new ships will be delayed untill EDO pay to play beta and bugs builds are available on all platforms...

I've been doing the exobiology stuff (salad hunting) and just treat walking about as a smaller, slower vehicle that I can deploy from my ship (or SRV) that has the scanner I need fitted to it.

I was a bit surprised there were no new ships with the Odd launch, but only because there usually are new ships with a point release. It would have been an ideal opportunity to add a new SRV type too, although I wasn't expecting one based on the info we had prior to launch.

tbh the ideal time to add a really big trader ship to the game would have been when carriers were added last year, but I suppose a carrier kind of is a really big trader ;)

Something I'd like to see is little ships like the Cobra MkI and original Krait added. They could even be functionally identical to an Eagle or Adder (for example), I'd still fly them :)

God yes, an SRV with the exobio scanner would be a blessing from the Lord. :)

Odyssey would have been the perfect opportunity to introduce some new SRVs and other ground vehicles. Maybe some agile ground combat vehicles or other more specialized vehicles. But, then again, Odyssey was a good opportunity for a lot of things.

I also think they are keeping things aside to be released when EDO comes to console... At least I hope so

New ships and/or SRVs aren't needed according to Odyssey, you've got a taxi and legs now, simple.
Frontier knows exactly what the players want and came up with the most stupi.... erm logical solution.

I think one of the reasons people always want new ships is because all the existing ships are very 'samey' - effectively at the request of users! Whenever Frontier have attempted to make ships more specialised (have special single-function slots, for example how the 'passenger ships' used to be), players have pushed back at the restrictions. The result is that most ships can do most things.

In regards to these hypothetical new ships, what are they going to add to the game that one or more existing ships can't already do? I honestly can't think of anything. I know some folks talk about a 'medium passenger ship', but really any existing medium ship can haul passengers. Then there is the fact people will always want new ships to be better than existing ships, and complain loudly if they aren't. Not to mention the ship interiors that Frontier never promised for Odyssey. They're already going to have to create 30+ custom detailed ship interiors for the existing ships when they get around to doing it - and people already want more!

Enough about ships. New SRVs - that is something I can get right behind. Something smaller and lighter for exploration, and something larger and heavier for base assaults.

Taken from reddit:

"
almost all corners are already covered
This has never mattered in games.
Take Warframe for example: technically all combat "corners"/aspects were covered in the first ten or so.
But they're up to 40+ different frames now, some which do the same or similar things to older ones, but people still flock to them because A) they're new, B) they might look more visually appealing to the player, C) might be customizable in better ways, etc.

You could give me a brand new ship in Elite with almost the exact same specs as the Krait Mk2, but if it looks better/different enough to feel fresh, you bet your ass I'm buying and flying it."

I think that finding a proper "place" for a new ship in the current roster could be quite difficult (besides panther clipper of course!...).
On the other hand having only one SRV in all this time is quite underwhelming, i was expecting at least a multiseat SRV in Odyssey, since they were promoting all the supposed teamwork (well, about that, they didn't even add on foot shared missions from the initial "release", but... well... you know).
