Modes 5 minutes in Open...

Beta is different. Especially since C&P is part of the beta testing.

Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night might become a wolf when the wolfsbane blooms and the beta moon is bright.
I had my only commander kill in Beta. They bounced off of my Python, that I was trying out; as I boosted out of the mail-slot. I think it was a cobra, just got the wanted bit and jumped out. It can be like a meat grinder sometimes, especially on the last day.

I have to say, don't play in solo that often (mostly when board flipping) but I'm always amazed how fluid the game feels in solo.

And loading in takes like 1/10 of the time of what it takes in Open.

Port forwarding helps, I play 100% in OPEN and in the most populated areas and have no issues.

It can help, but it's no magic bullet. The problem with wanting to interact with other players is that you also have to interact with their hardware, their ISP, and all the infrastructure that exists between you and them. Multiplied by the number of "them" in the instance. It's a minor miracle that it works at all.

For the first time in over two years I play in open with my main account...

Very first supercruise. Interdicted by a ferdelance whom shall remain unnamed.
I had no cargo, was in a lightly fitted asp.
No chat, no RP just instant death with beams and PA.
went from 4km to about 500m distance less than 10 seconds, so super engineered.

luckly less than 1m rebuy.

5 minutes.

Real Nice.

I was more unlucky....just bought my anaconda and was on my way to an engineer when 2 FDLs appeared and interdicted me....was a basic conda with basic modules and weapons...i lasted about 30 seconds agaisnt these 2 highly engineered FDLs,,cant remember the cmdrs names either....lucky just had enough for a rebuy.....been SOLO or Private ever since......i really cant see any point in open world in this game

Ha! Well played.

I'd actually recommend Beta for anyone that wants a bit of consequence-free PvP. It's hilarious, and all rather good natured (in my experience).

On my way back from battling Thargoid Scouts, with my Python's hull melting under me, I got interdicted by another Commander in a Cutter. I broadcast "NOT NOW!!" over the comms and the other Commander replied with "Ok" and low-waked out.

Wouldn't have mattered if they hadn't, mind, but it was rather jolly.

Because farming credits or killing worthless bots gets dull after few hours...

Because cmdrs are smarter, faster and unpredictble... you never know what is going to happen at any moment.

Because interacting with people (even toxic) is funner than reading "I am going to boil you up" × 30).

Because the PVE content is thin and credits are useless.

Having your ship shot out from under you is what open is all about. I haven't played in open in over a year. I don't miss it at all.

I disagree, that is what it seems Open has become, it was suppose to be a place where you can meet all sorts.. that is now what Mobius has become.

And the opposite is true as well... for more than once it is not the wolf who you have to fear but the well dressed and pious who is secretly the viper

Why should they message you? When it comes to putting down a player there really isn't any need for small talk. Anyone with half a brain in their head will be feverishly using that time to escape.

The way I look at it is that you got a very cheap lesson on what to watch out for around other players in Open. When I'm playing around strangers I assume they will try to kill me without "provocation" and act accordingly. If I'm playing around my friends I absolutely know they'll try to kill me and act accordingly:)

The bottom line is that it didn't effect your financial outlook and now you know something you didn't know before, making you that much more secure from a gank in the future.

I have spent 43 years on earth and haven't been killed once. Some people are killed as children... Everyone has a different story to tell.

Just so you know, I will be blatantly plagiarizing this line for my next TGC Tours story. With all the mindless dribble that comes off on this thread (including my own comments I've made), this simple statement rising above. It is most insightful. Definitely bears repeating.

I'm quite ambivalent about golf.

Why do you hate it so much?

Just so you know, it took me 3 tries to write ambivalent. And after I wrote it, I googled it, and it doesn't mean what I though it meant.

Psssh, English, right? What use is a language when it doesn't mean what you think it does?

Point missed by a country mile...

Your OP was pretty sparse, but I gathered that you thought it was poor form that you were attacked & destroyed without any chat on comms or roleplay (that you could detect). So, I tried to address that for you. Your reply to me is also pretty sparse, but I gather that you disagree; please elaborate.
