Modes 5 minutes in Open...

Just noticed a MOD edited my original post (2nd post on thread) without a word...This a common thing?

Post #2 is my edited post, Post #12 shows someone quoting what i ACTUALLY said before someone edited it...
It happens, saves deleting post etc.. You can privately contest the action, just private mail them and explain your case. Most of the time it is due to rule braking and they will explain. Sometimes, it is down to misunderstandings and they will compromise with you.

I haven't told you any of this of course, because we mortals; are not allowed to discuss their actions.

My courier got 2 shot by a Clipper once. I rage quitted and have only just now come back. Beat that for pansy raging. Still, grade 5 engineered ships (and hacks no doubt) are great aren't they.

Oh I have no intention of giving up...

I have 4000 rebuys. LOL.

I do see how some would give up though or just play in mobius.

Nowt wrong with Mobius...... only the other day after chatting with him; I helped an Empire Commander (by definition an enemy) by refuelling him.... only in Mobius. (P.S. I'm NOT a Fuel Rat)
I have often found you get a better class of interaction in Mobius...Open (which I do still frequent.....not so much) pew pew Kabooom...chat ...wassat?

For ASPX you need A rated shield engineered for thermal resistance and 2 boosters enginnered for resistance as well.

Dirty drive G5 will give you close 500m/s boost, the fastest fdl boosts around 570m/s.

Mod the hull for light weight to give you better jump range and speed.

Tell that to those who are not Horizons owners...

The disconnect that people have between their own skill and what they think possible for others never ceases to amaze.

This guy thinks people have to "hack" to beat him now. Yeah it must have been a "hack"

A while ago someone was having a technical issue with the game and their Nvidia card. In their post they spelled Nvidia wrong 3 times. So I responded, corrected the spelling and offered a fix for their issue. A mod edited my post and removed the corrected spelling. Said I was being rude.

I've never played in open and never will. I play this game for MY enjoyment, not some pimply faced kid who thinks that all the time spent grinding his boat into a super-ship somehow makes him superior. Got better things to do with my time. :)

Last time I played, it was a trade CG. I got interdicted by a courier who shot at me with torpedoes. I guess those fancy shield buster thingies. Too bad for him, I had some point defense mounted on my ship and low-waked out to the station. I grinned. It was my first "cmdr fight". Fleeing is acceptable ^_^

Oh, common... Good day dear Sir, would you be so kind to visit your rebuy screen for a minute, please? Politeness makes a difference, no more hiding in Mobisolo!

Maybe you prevented him to express his feelings about Nvidia freely. How rude of you!

PD is too weak against torpedoes, use ECM here, or as a Courier you have enough maneuverability without both I guess.

Pretty much, if you don't really care to interact with random people there's no point playing in Open. All risk, no reward and loading times are longer. Why bother.

Come now Ziggy Bunny, that's like saying "planets have data and cartographics wants data, ergo exploration is meaningful and doesn't need developing".
You are trying to make a point through an analogy. Plus, you brought in "and doesn't need developing" out of thin air.

Without it it is: planets have data and cartographics wants data, ergo exploration is meaningful. And yes it is, in the Elite universe this fits as the meaning of exploration. I hope it will be developed and the collection of data become more engaging.

I have the same hopes for piracy by the way. It's a neglected part of Elite. So you trying to link it to not needing development is quite off the mark and a little tricksy.

Come now Stitch.

I hardly ever run into other people in Open anyway (mind you I don't play for months, and most of the time I do I'm not that close to frequently visited systems). I've probably been shot at less than half a dozen times by other players. Anyway, a bit of supercruise cat and mouse makes the game a little livelier, it's more satisfying with a bit of stress. Would be nice to git gud though, maybe someday. Probably had more friendly encounters than otherwise (most just involve people minding their own business).

Not to mention the god awful issues with instancing that get you stuck trying to get out of SC, or just seeing all the other human players rubber banding all over the damned place!

Solo is so much more smooth and stable than Open, which is something I rarely see mentioned, despite it being a well known fact. At least to those of us who have compared the two back to back over many sessions, and can see that the Solo version of ED feels like a totally different game a good portion of the time. A much better game!

I have to say, don't play in solo that often (mostly when board flipping) but I'm always amazed how fluid the game feels in solo.

And loading in takes like 1/10 of the time of what it takes in Open.

For the first time in over two years I play in open with my main account...

Very first supercruise. Interdicted by a ferdelance whom shall remain unnamed.
I had no cargo, was in a lightly fitted asp.
No chat, no RP just instant death with beams and PA.
went from 4km to about 500m distance less than 10 seconds, so super engineered.

luckly less than 1m rebuy.

5 minutes.

Real Nice.

+Rep

Par for the course.

With no serious downside to random PKing, this is what we get.

But it's part of the human condition, and why every city and town has a police force - one percent of us just suck. Thank goodness it's not more!

And thank goodness for PGs.

Understand where your going OP ... I tried open in the BEtA .... flew the new ship for almost 10 min before getting interdicted killed etc etc... got new ship took off again .. 2 min later was dead back buying a new ship .. tried it a third time and got killed again... I then decided to test the ship in Mobius private group ... no issues and lots pf players flying. Hard to test the ship in open when you die constantly... lol ... might be better if the griefers said hi before killing you .. lol .. although one gent did bump me a few times and sat watching me for 10 - 20 seconds before killing .. I was taking the vr headset off and typing when died... it's all good though and well some folks choose to play like that .. you can choose to remove yourself from the situation .. thats what I did... Keep smiling and enjoy the game .. it's the best one out there imho.
