All the details that you could spot in the Odissey trailer (positive and negative)

I hope I'm not starting an already existing thread.

What I want to do here is to note down all the details that you spot in the trailer.
I will list all positive, neutral and negative details that I could see but I don't want to jump to conclusion, it's just initial personal thought.
I'm also curious to see all those small details that you could see and that can be extracted from this short video.

Here I start:

Positive (everything about legs):
  • Walking animation in-engine is very natural, so hopefully we will have very realistic movements. This makes me think to the Krait Trailer, so I think we might get some new animation in the cockpit too.
  • The two characters are holding two different types of "shotguns". The guy has a sniper rifle (for stealth gameplay then), the lady seems having a "regular" shotgun.
  • Both have also a smaller gun in the right hand side holster.
  • On the left hand side of the suite there is a small bag. Probably for additional tools.
  • They have 2 different types of helmets.
  • Of course (everyone noticed it already) there is the jet-pack.
  • The Anaconda is landing at some secret outpost, you can see there's only a landing pad and nothing more, so it could mean underground bases.
Negative details (everything about atmosphere):
  • I see no haze. Neither from the orbit nor on the surface. It doesn't even seem an atmospheric planet from the orbit.
  • No clouds at all.
  • Something weird with the light engine: we can clearly see the stars in the sky even if it's fully daylight.
Neutral:
  • The guy in the trailer is the same from the Krait trailer

Maybe not the intent of OP...but my writer side is itching...

Why do they seem to 'sneak up' on the Anaconda that literally buzzed their heads moments before? I mean, they're white dots on a barren landscape...nevermind advanced sensors...seemed a strange storyboard choice. Also, why do they then stand up and two ships fly over as if to attack...then veer off and do nothing?

scratches head

Are they sneaking up on a base to attack?
Are they just being silly, jumping about towards home?
Why did they leave their ship and walk, with guns, on an obviously lifeless world?

I get the sense the story is supposed to be "We're sneaking up on this pirate base, look ma, I can walk!" but the ships overhead and the sudden standing, added to the language FDev uses (emphasis on exploration, untouched land, etc) makes it all seem muddled. If the land is untouched, why is there a large landing pad in the middle of nowhere? Is that supposed to be a commander's base? Does it belong to them and they are just...sneaking up on it...

sigh

I'd be more excited if the story being told here made sense.

It clearly states pre alpha footage, so I guess haze, lighting etc is subject to change.
The planet clearly has a thin atmosphere visible from orbit. If it is thin it means light from stars might shine through. Atmosphere is no doubt not breathable, as they are wearing masks.

Positive:
- To me I think I see a slightly different terrain engine in the works. I thought it was the same one first, but I'm not so sure now.

Suppose it could be a low-G planet/moon with a very thin atmosphere.

I guess my positive would be, what I assume is part of the new planet tech, how smoother terrain blends with rougher terrain. Like hard rock surfaces sticking out from sand.

Being able to see the stars could mean a thin atmosphere (they are wearing helmets).

As I said, I'm writing off my thought, I'm not jumping to conclusions. I'm a Star Citizen baker too so I know what it means Alpha 😅
Anyway with such a thin atmosphere the sky should also be much darker. In the complete trailer the only disturbing detail for me is the view from the orbit.

I keep seing the atmo crowd get excited...I also want atmosphere, but I wouldn't hold my breath (pun intended). I think we're seeing atmosphere graphically rendered, but nothing else. I am hoping weather effects (rain, blizzards, heat wave distortion) are coming, but I'd be very surprised if they make it into this release. I hope to be proven wrong.

If that really is the engine (and they say it is, so no reason to assume otherwise) it looks great. I'd be curious to know if that is only possible on PC, though. PS5 and new XBox will have impressive capabilities, but those capabilities don't matter if the game isn't coded to use them.

I'm a bit surprised we didn't see new ships or SRV models. All of that would have been great hype material for an effective teaser, even if all they did was step in or out of a SRV. This looks more like a glorified walking game trailer.

Obsidian Ant's trailer for April's fool was the best trailer imho! 😅

I don't see them walking around in ships.

I don't see them on planets with foliage or trees etc.

I do see them on a barren dust bowl like we already have.

I don't see them entering and exiting their ship, so am assuming it will be some sort of corner cutting fade to black animation for getting in and out of ships.

I do see FPS weapons.
I do see a nice sense of scale.

I'd like someone (no, I'm not volunteering) to compare the ship models with our current ships. I could be wrong but I think they look slightly different, which might imply a redesign to better implement ship interiors. This has happened before, like when SRVs were introduced.

It's been shown that station interiors are incorrectly scaled for human usage. To my knowledge, though, the ships have all been scaled appropriately. There are a few that are dubious. The Beluga Liner, for example. The black canopy makes it hard to judge the size, but there are doors on the side for loading like an airliner. Compared to the size of the window slots, though, the Beluga either has very unusual interior design (It's a Saud Kruger, so that's not unlikely) or the 'decks' the windows imply are incorrectly sized. Federal Corvette hallways and Anaconda hallways are also known to be scaled unusually.

All this to say, if ship interiors are coming (and I hope they are), some ships probably do need rescaling and possibly even reworked external maps.

A fade to black will be very, very disappointing...unless it is a fade to the 'other side of cockpit door' FPS mode. Transitions are a necessary evil for gaming, but if I just "appear" outside my ship a la NMS...I'll be very disappointed. Fade makes sense on SLF and SRV somewhat, at least, but space legs? Come on.

I think this shows haze?
