Release Galnet News - A Discord feed bot

Features:
  • Works on multiple discord servers

This is great work and I'll be in discussion with some folks on some of the larger discord servers about it.

Is there some documentation to help you get it set up, with some better detail about how to set up a channel to show the feed. I can't figure it out.

The bot has permissions to post in the respective channel. (Nearly has been given all permissions at this point)

The feedchannel has been set

Yet, whenever other servers display a new news article, we have to keep manually running gnn latest to get it to fetch the article. Any ideas?

Yes I am aware of the issues right now. It's because my dirty fix to address the issue the first time was sustainable when the bot was being used in less servers. I at the time already had an idea how better to fix the issue, but just left the dirty fix in. Now that there is 85+ servers using the bot, I just need to change how the feed posts automatically, to address Discord variable rate limits with my new plan.

In any case, I'll try to fix it this week or the next, but no promises. I'll tweet when the new update is up, and maybe put up a Twitter poll to see if any more servers are losing automatic posts.

Yeah, we have the same problem. The bot has all permissions to the channel and we set the feed to it, that's all we have to do, right?

I had started the verification process when the bot was in 75 servers, but Discord hasn't gotten back to me yet. So until then, and unfortunately so, the bot won't be able to be added to more servers until then. As soon as I get word that it is verified, I'll make an update here and on Twitter.

I still needed to use "gnn latest" to get the bot to display today's new GalNet articles.

I thus assume that the autofeed is not working, still?
