Mr Brookes, sincere best of luck to you in the new project. I'm very glad to hear that you will still be around, your presence at Lavecon and other events is much appreciated and I hope we'll have an opportunity some point in the future to appreciate a good dram and chat into the wee hours again as we did last Lavecon. Right on Commander! o7

Mr brookes you take care, and good luck. I only found elite 10 months ago, and wow thankyou for everything you have done with the game so far. I hope you comment about the future of the game is true... all the best matey

Hey Michael, thanks a lot for your work on Elite: Dangerous!
With 14 years in Frontier, no one can debate the topic: you're skilled, and we love you o7

I look forward the upcoming secret project! Cheers :)

Hi everyone,

I’ve worked at Frontier now for over 14 years, and in that time I’ve had the pleasure on working on a diverse range of projects. In fact of all the games we’ve released in that time there’s only three I’ve not worked on in some capacity! The most significant of which was Elite Dangerous. Since becoming involved in the Kickstarter, and the subsequent development it’s been a major factor not only in my professional life, but in my social one as well. As with any multi-project company people occasionally move between games, and it’s with great pleasure (and some sadness) that I can let you know that I’m moving onto the secret project we announced a few months ago. It’s a fantastic opportunity, and another game I’m proud to be involved with. While I will miss not being so closely involved in Elite, I’ll still be playing the game regularly and participating in the community where I can – I’m currently making my way to Colonia in my Imperial Courier :)

I should emphasise that this doesn’t affect Elite’s future. Development will continue with its large and active development team. The production team remains exactly the same with a new addition to the production team and they’re all a more than capable crew, and of course David remains a key decision maker for the game. I’m looking forward to 2.4’s release – there’s some very cool stuff in there! And that is nothing compared to what lies further in the future.

I’d also like to thank the community for your involvement. Since the game was first announced it’s been a pleasure to join you in a shared enthusiasm. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of you in person, and it’s always a great feeling to appreciate the passion that you have for the game. I think the first Lavecon will always stand out as a key moment, but there have been many others since the game’s release, and it’s always great to see some of the things like epic rescues and community events that take place in our galaxy. I will be attending Lavecon again this year as a fan of Elite and to meet with old friends and the fantastic community. Naturally I’ll keep an eye on the forums and pop in from time to time!

So thanks to you all, and I may see you in the black...

Michael
See you Soon®

From an old time elite/elite 2/ED player .. Congrats on the promotion (even if its sideways)

Moving to Colonia..... well a well worn phrase springs to mind "we're boned"

As for the secret project
Its a combination of Kerbal space program and Thargoid invasion
Take your 6 legged armored killing machines from fighting among themselves on a single world to conquer the galaxy (bonus points for extermination of any 4 limbed squishy civilizations on the way)

Thank you for your support and hard work on the game. Also for the fantastic book :)

All the best with the new project!

With so many secrets around, it feels like Frontier is part of the MI6 or something.
Regardless, Thanks for everything you've done for Elite Michael and i wish you all the best and good luck on this super duper secret project.

Thank you for your role in shaping one of the greatest games I've ever played. I've done my fair share of complaining on these forums, but it's always been because I love the game so much that I want it to be perfect.

Very few games these days do I really feel like I have gotten my money's worth from. This one, I've done far better than that, LEP and all, and we're still going.

Good luck on the new project!

Cheers Mike, thanks for all the hard work - and for being a regular fixture over on the threadnought. Always been a pleasure reading your comments and responses. And of course playing the game that you've had such a huge hand in!

More than once it's felt a little bit like we're Truman, with you watching everything, directing and nudging us towards the yellow brick road (okay, mixed film metaphors/similes there, but I think it just about works).

All the best for the new project, I'm sure it will benefit from your guiding hand, and hope to see you on the threadnought again from time to time!

Have a great venture into the Unknown Michael, we will all miss you :-( i hope you will still grace us with your presence in the forums :-(

Secret project? Do tell! Well, I know you're not allowed to, sadly. :)
Aha! He's going to work on a secret project for the Federation to fight the Thargoids. The truth is that we've been fighting real battles in space through the game, but we didn't know. I knew there was something more to this Ender's game...

Oh cool, the single player only mode of ED will be released after all? :p Elite 4 - the dream.

Good luck to you Michael, I enjoyed your forum posts, you were always helpful.
