A Fuel Rat saved me!

o7 Commanders...

Be sure to plan your journeys with fuel in mind and NEVER think "oh I can do another jump" when you notice fuel getting low.

I learned that today, on the way to a CG. I miscalculated my jumps and found myself at a red dwarf that was unscoopable. And I was two stops away from the nearest truck stop!

But thanks to the Fuel Rats who promptly and professionally came to the rescue! A dispatcher immediately took my request and sent Commanders Stinja and Igglybytes to my destination. I got some fuel, learned a few helpful tips and then they were off to the next destination.

Such an awesome set of guys to have extended their services (quite quickly) to the PS4 platform!

So dont mess around when it comes to fuel. Plan your trips carefully. But if you get into trouble, call up a Fuel Rat!!

Fuel every time you are in a station and buy that fuel scoop , never had any problem .
With the fuel scoop every time you jump to a next system its time to refuel a bit .

Obligatory nitpick, but if it was a red dwarf (type-M) then it's scoopable.

Probably a Brown (type Y) or the dreaded T-Tauri (which look like they should be scoopable but aren't).

But yes, the Rats are awesome. I'm going to be Ratting on the PC when I finally get some free time.

Oh - obligatory hint, as well: when you initiate a hyperspace jump, the star-type of the destination system is displayed in the rolling status window, top right. If you're low on fuel and it's a non-scoopable, abort the jump and locate a better target.

Glad everything went ok for you, I almost ran out of fuel with my Sidewinder because I thought I had planned the right journey, but actually left the plotted course for another mission that I didn't accept. After four jumps I couldn't recognize any of the system names and then realized the mistake I made. The sight of a settlement on a planet in that system was a wonderful one! Now I have a Cobra and promptly bought a fuel scoop, though I miss that chill down the spine when you're checking the fuel gauge and how many jumps you need to do till the next station!

If you view the Galaxy map, click on the 3rd tab to select the filters.
Now select star type, and check only the "KGBFOAM" stars.
Now scroll down and check "apply filter"

That forces the route planner to use these star types. It will occasionally select one that isn't - if there is no alternative.

Not by default it doesn't! It only tells the map to display those types. You must also check 'Apply filters to route'.

Top guys the Fuel Rats.
I ran out not knowing as a noob how far my tank would take me, I thought I was going to earn an easy 100K credits from a few jumps...
Nope, ran out & I had no idea where I was or how far I was from the nearest station, I called the fuel rats but unfortunately I was to late, big thanks to Stinja for attempting the rescue but I was simply to far into my life support!
Great service though & hopefully a lesson learnt!

Truly sorry, it was in a manic night, as we would normally have 3 rats for a Code Red case. Then we'd try to position at various likely areas so 1 rat would be closer to get there faster...

If anyone does in out of fuel, please give The Fuel Rats a call, but also important is to preserve as much fuel (or oxygen) as possible. Always note your current location in the system as well as the galaxy, eg: distance to closest object, like star, planet or station. Fly safe!

Don't forget to "KGBFOAM": KGBFOAM and filter stars
