A Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim

actually its still not working with outposts, sirius inc went to war in pic tok, and despite having 81% influence lost the election states (perhaps elections are still bugged) this was on yesterdays tick

Imho stations change hands one day before the end of the conflict. So it might be that conflict ended prematurely.

Retroactive switching doesnt happen.

That happened in 1.3. Perhaps this is noticeable because the Status tick and the Conflicts tick occur at different times, ie, the outcome is decided and property changes hands but the war continues until the Conflicts update.

That's a nuisance: we've got eight systems that need reworking.

Guys just to be sure how long can boom states last?

Up to 18 days (in 1.3)

Not only 1.3. Yesterday as well in the system we detected a successful flip.

No. That will happen occasionally. We have seen it last longer than 18 days before. End it with a war as described in the OP.

Can you end Boom by forcing an election? And can anyone confirm that winning an election will now cause a station flip? Our main competition in our home system is the same government type.

Im not sure if elections interrupt booms. We have seen a station flip work, but it was while everyone elses were not working. Some says they had one work recently, maybe its fixed, maybe its just the one.

So, definitely maybe 😜

Hopefully it's working now. It's been a very frustrating start to player factions.

No the elections still arent working, in pic tok my player faction sirius inc went to election against the pic tok league. Despite coming out with 81% versus 14% we still lost the election. Unless theres a military modifier at work, we purposely did peaceful missions for sirius inc and the only trafic was 2 of us. The lack of information is furstrating. The outpost was the only one in system. Not sure if thats a factor. The election lasted 4 days. ( no conflict zones spawn for elections either) no missions for specific state as one gets with boom and bust. Nothing to say its working or not + bug report was submitted

Two systems in our watch list flipped today as well. They were both in the automatic cycle of Civil Wars that ended with the update tick, so work that was undertaken some weeks ago finally paid off without having to do a thing.

There's anther system in CW that should end in a day or so - it will be interesting to see what happens.

So, another interesting thing has just happened in Priva. Last night we had six factions: BCATS, Priva Industry, Priva Empire Group, Priva Partners, Values Party of Priva and Cartel of Priva. Cartel was on 1% influence. Tonight, Cartel has gone and a new faction has appeared - Cartu Empire League - with a state of Expansion (so they've come in-system from somewhere nearby). It would appear that not all systems can hold seven factions, and if a faction expands into an already full system then the lowest local faction is removed *or* if a faction expands into a nearby system and a local faction is at 1% influence then that faction is replaced.

Has anyone else seen this happen? From what little reading I've done on the BGS I get the impression the question of removing factions hadn't been answered yet.

Yeah, we have seen this twice already. In both cases the eliminated faction got a free expansion into the system the expanded faction came from. We have filed a bug report in both cases.

Ah, fair enough. I haven't checked nearby systems so I don't know if Cartel have been removed or just transplanted but will have a look around when I log back in tomorrow.

According to Zac there about 60% causes a conflict state. Someone test this if you can and I will update the OP. We have done this before and it was somewhere over 70%, but if what I see is true that has changed.

Hold over 60% and under 70%, if war starts I will update my numbers on OP. Please include record influence for each day so I can review it to make sure before updating the numbers.

+10 Walt, this is an excellent piece of work.
After reading through the vast amount of information, I have 2 questions, (apologies if I missed this)
Has it been determined whether the profit is the figure I should be working with or the total value of the trade? as an influence factor.
How accurate is the traffic report at recording actual player commanders. And is the “Last 24 hours” a rolling figure?, I have been taking periodic information from the daily reports and if it’s players, then I can't observe them
