A message to Frontier From D2EA

well that is a different question. I think it would be fair to say that many commanders, maybe even the majority, would have been disappointed if they got another Python derivate instead of the Stargoids, Maelstroms and Titans.
Maybe for a Python derivative, all bets are off if it's the Panther Clipper. ;)
Also, no matter what content is released, there will always be groups that want something different. I'm saying that I don't like the Thargoid content at all, especially when it's "forced" upon us, and I'd prefer some QoL (in "our" view) for the game. Also, bug fixes, I prefer them to any content release.

Your defending and justification of FDev's behaviour doesn't necessarily mean you care more about this game than me. My criticism is not with malicious intend, I just see lost opportunities. I've been here since March '17, and until 6 months ago, I was playing daily.
Another of these lost opportunities is the Orrery system view. Players had been asking and begging for one. As expected, FDev treated us like beggars. They released a token one to shut us up, then said they wouldn't improve upon it. I barely use it, although I see its potential.

As I mentioned in a different thread, I follow the forums by reading the "New Posts". I'd like to ask the mods to separate ED news from the rest, because I feel bad when I see all those "DLC this" and "DLC that" for the other higher valued games.
They have a gem here and they toss it in mud. And people applaud.

Which doesn't get much buzz either. For all we know, they were running late with some parts of U16 so they release that later and call it U17. 😝

Probably not, but we don't know a single thing about these updates.
What worries me more is the language they seem to be using lately more and more - "This update is still confirmed to be released" (emphasis mine) - as if it could get cancelled anytime...

Maybe it's conspiracy theorist in me, but overall there are a lot of little things that make me worries that we may be coming to an end of ED, slowly (still) but steady. I truly hope this is just an impression I'm getting and it's not actually the case.

I think they have had to put that disclaimer in because they don't know if it's going to work, because they are working on it to the last moment, ,sort of thing due to lack of resources ?? But I totally agree the feeling I have is "it will do " from Fdev rather than something magical .

What suggests to you that they might just cancel work on U16 and abandon it entirely?

U17, not 16.

"we can confirm that Update 17 is still coming" - it's not the first time when they've used that phrase specifically. It just sounds a bit off, like... It's still coming, still not been cancelled, but you never know.

It's not just that though - this is just one of the few little things, like slow development progress, lots of long standing bugs just lying there with no fix on the horizon, CM team shrinking, live streams less frequent, not a lot of news to talk about on those live streams, Galnet slowing down a bit and a couple more stuff. Overall I can't help but get an impression of ED having less and less manpower assigned to it.

Soooo D2EA 17k Views nowhere near the majority of the community then, not even close.

I agree that tritium gathering has to improve for FCs. I like mining in small doses, but making it compulsory in order to fuel my FC just turns a relaxing experience into a long-hours job.
Why are you mining for it? It's far ore efficient to do a high-earning activity, like exobiology, and just buy tritium. You can get it from other players even out in the far Black.

That's the kind of thing the gushing fountain of credits is for!

Great video and points.

What's sad is FD have ~18K subscribers and Down to earth astronomy has ~100K.
That is a completely meaningless comparison to the nth degree.

A subscriber is not even a customer, but it would be closest to that for the comparison to begin to be valid, and Frontier have sold over a million copies of Elite. Compared to 108 paid up Patreon members that D2EA , and eight on Youtube?

Also, I understand that there aren't a million players all the time, but there's also not 100,000 people watching D2EA's videos either - looks to be ~10k per video when first released, and for tutorial videos it would be more over a longer period of time as those are used as reference while they are still relevant to whatever is being explained.

That's not an insignificant number either, I'll grant that and I'm sure it generates some ad revenue. I also want to say that I used to be one of those subscribers and I want to see channels grow and people do well, but there also needs to be a grounding in reality.

They won't listen - we all know it's not their way.
By we, you mean all of the 100k subs he has, or the 108 Patreon members, or the 8 members of his youtube channel? Or just the royal we?
