Were you going to eat that? They need to, because ED has zero buzz to it, like a dead fly on a windowsill.

Lol, yes I can see that. IMO, they make a pretty good game, but they do appear fairly daft at times. I have the impression that the CM team knows very little about what the devs are up to and what decisions management has taken. Still the why do I have to buy the game again, is fairly easy to answer with just a boiler plate email answer. One of the repeated threads on the forum is 'I've owned this game for 6 years, why is the launcher asking me to buy it?'. And I bet Support get a load of contacts. So I expect they're trying to reduce that, they don't want mothballed games taking up Support bandwidth.
Remember when they spent $$$ to make a new streaming room, then spent money on putting together a set to look like they were on a space station, then decided to reduce streams to monthly. Planning ahead is not a strength![]()
Yes, it's a very valid point.Still as noted before, why waste time and effort to update the launcher if the plan is to end development soon?
Those that peddle doom will always see doom.
I'd say that the locked threads are a very bad sign.Yes, it's a very valid point.
Just to note, if you've been here long, you (not you specifically Jack) should know I'm more of a white knight than doomsayer, I always try to look at the positives and I'd rather enjoy and focus on what we have than moan about what we don't have. Well, for most of the time anyway. I don't shy away from criticism mind you, where I think it's valid, but I am definitely NOT one to pointlessly complain and foretell the end is nigh.
The fact that I get that overall negative and doom-like impression is a surprise even to myself, but honestly, I can't help feeling that way looking at the big picture of Elite Dangerous and how FDEV treats it from all angles recently.
But .....A carrier can easily carry 20,000 tons of tritium. Assuming 4 LY consumes a ton (ballpark figure),
10,000 x 4 = 40,000 LY.
That's a long distance.
Steve
Well I could try to cheer you up, but I'm really more than tired at playing white knight!Yes, it's a very valid point.

Can't argue there, cmdr. No offense, I'm teasing youI may be labeled as a white knight
Please, do!but i will call things out when i notice them
Perhaps I was being a little harsh in quoting your post, there are better examples out there, but it demonstrated a 1+1=5, given no evidence of the contrary, logic. Pointing out the evidence was perfectly valid, and worrying, but it does not necessarily mean that "The end is near". There are a 101 reasons for the FDev behaviour.I'm not peddling doom.
I just notice the slowdowns and the small things that changed post Odyssey, more specifically post every interim/yearly financial report which lands in January, respectively in July
Post every such report, there were some obvious slowdowns (in coms, in patching, in CM activity, etc) signs of budgetary cuts.
I may be labeled as a white knight, but i will call things out when i notice them
Maybe they are just tired of the first reply to every anouncement thread being "ship interiors when?"I'd say that the locked threads are a very bad sign.
Maybe they should build them, thenMaybe they are just tired of the first reply to every anouncement thread being "ship interiors when?"![]()
The similarity is in that in both cases players will take the easy and less involved way of getting what they want and will then feel that doing it any other way is a hellgrind because it's so much less effective. Sometimes it's just a perception issue but in Elite it's very much true. Then you go to compare it with reloging for materials - a process, they said, that was never intended, even tho they understand why people are doing it
The locked threads are a mechanism for making sure that information stays as the only thing in that thread. There is absolutely nothing stopping another thread being created for discussion and speculation.I'd say that the locked threads are a very bad sign.
Maybe people should show some restraint and learn that no means noMaybe they should build them, then![]()
Actually the difference is very small, from 20K units (122 average per jump) on my FC down to around 9K units (109 average per jump) is only 13 Units which is peanuts. The more tritium you carry the more weight and the more tritium you burn each jump.

Fully loaded a carrier burns about a ton per 4 LY. The less weight aboard a carrier means tritium goes further. But .....
You would continually be going back to the bubble for refuelling of spending 80% of your time mining or leave your fleet carrier at home. I've gone round the galaxy with no fleet carrier, its very restrictive and you are stuck with one ship and no mechanism for doing alternative activities (I'm too tight to pay FDev for another account!!).
- The more tritium you carry the more weight and the more tritium you burn each jump.
- The galaxy extends 65,000LY from Sol to Beagle Point. You would run out long before then.
- If you wanted to navigate around the outer edge of the galaxy then that would be (rough guess) 4 x 80,000LY.
True, but it soon mounts up over lots of jumps. 13 units is a 12% increase in fuel consumption.Actually the difference is very small, from 20K units (122 average per jump) on my FC down to around 9K units (109 average per jump) is only 13 Units which is peanuts.
