Hide Legacy, hide CGs, hide Galnet, hide Arx store. And hide server status.
Actively discouraging PC players from Legacy unless they make an effort makes sense for Frontier - it's not as if it's that heavily used to start with, but they really need to make sure people aren't using it accidentally.
Hiding CGs and Galnet on the old launcher wouldn't have required a new version (just blank whatever page it uses for its feed, as happened for most of 2019-2020 due to lack of content, and they didn't bother doing anything about it then) ... even removing the ARX store link and the fictional server status wouldn't have required more than a minor update to the existing launcher. It still seems a
lot of effort to go to when if that was all they wanted to do there'd be much easier ways to do it.
To be clear: I said "I don't think Frontier think they're heading that way" - they can make bad decisions (lots of them around Odyssey, a new launcher that's worse than the old one [1], etc.) in an attempt to keep things going rather than an attempt to shut things down, and the result of those bad decisions can be the game shutting down. That doesn't mean that the original "ten year plan" had "2021, kill ED with delayed and buggy expansion", though.
[1] Is it? I don't know, haven't tried it yet. I mean, it's a launcher, if it's working I'll spend all of two seconds looking at it anyway.
