A Nice Quiet Place To Call Home...

I'd want it to be in my possession, importing/producing/exporting what I want it to, prohibiting goods I tell it to prohibit.

Preferrably I'd like to be able to upgrade it with modules to give it more storage space / production capability / landing pads.

EDIT: Oh, and a private landing pad. I don't want to have to ask for docking permission at my "home", or have it attempting to gun me down if I don't.

a personal "hangar" like in World of Tanks where we could store ship parts instead of having to resell them, and instead of "welcome back commander" it says "welcome home commander when I dock.
Both of this would be great! I particularly like the "Welcome home" part. That's virtually zero development effort and the thought of it gives me a nice fuzzy feeling already :)
Add the "depot" for non-used modules and I'm a happy bunny!

Wherever I may roam, where I lay my head is home. I'm a vagrant for the most part, though I've taken to the Empire quite easily. They don't seem to mind my vagabond life style so long as I keep bringing them the heads of those that are defectors or Federation scum.

Have you claimed a star system or station as your "Home"?

Have you found a "home" yet? Or are you more the Nomad type and your home is where your ship is?

I think I've finally found a great set of systems that is perfect for my lifestyle of legit trade mixed with sticking my nose into every USS I encounter along the trade routes.:)

 Oh my Pirates! - Set Phasers to FUN!
:D What's that? 6 Rare Artworks needing a new home? - Let's head to the Black Market!
:p (And for when I'm ready to try my hand at mining, there's like 3 extraction points right outside my window that looks like a nonstop space battle of the local pirates versus the local law enforcement!)

In particular there is this one cute outpost that has everything I need. Re-Arm, great small ship mods & weapons, a commodities market, black market (actually now that I think about it, every station in this system has a black market. I love my options!), but it's not perfect (they don't do repairs at the outpost, so I have to fly to the big neighboring Ocellus station when I get a dent or scratch) but man, that place is starting to feel like home.

It's in a strongly independent system, but has both Federation and Imperial neighbors. Best of all, I've become allied with all three. (And I've already earned up to 4 system permits while taking odd jobs for both sides. Best of all, I've had the opportunity to take down Rogue Federal Dropships and Imperial Clippers with my tricked out Sidewinder!)

There's a nearby High Technology system for when small arms deals need to go down. There's another nearby Independent Agriculture system with strong Federation ties for all my Tea and Nom Nom Needs. And to my surprise a very Industrial Federation system with strong Imperial ties, all outposts, no stations Which is great for those times when our benefactors would like goods that are usually not permitted on most stations.

It's like one big happy space family there. Life is good among the stars!

So what's your home look like? What are your needs, wants, dreams and desires? What would make the perfect home?

Choose your home?

Would have liked to have chosen my start/home area, such as independent, imperial or federation.
Keep the random system, but at least let us pick our colours, who we would fight and die for?

Well you can't choose your start but what's to keep you from choosing your home? Decide who you want to fight and die for and go there. Use your ship, it's for traveling, you know!

Looking for a new Home

Hello Commanders,

i am currently looking for a new Home. I find it really difficult to use the Galaxy Map for this. So i' d love some hints either on how to use it properly or what System to go to. At the Moment i am sitting in a Cobra in Eravate.
I am looking for a new Home in Federation Space. It should have good Upgrades for my Ship, be near a Conflict Zone and, if possible, near Empire AND Alliance Space. Near unexplored Terrain would be nice too.
I appreciate any Help. Thanks in Advance.

A new home.

Hi there NotoriusTaz, Allowa has all that you're looking for with exception to the conflict zone. But there are multiple stations with upgrades and decent trade routes in the area. If you happen to check out the area I'll probably see you around there. :)

Leesti where the famed george lucas dock, is a nice place, high tech corperate lots of rare trades for a cobra to enjoy. Don't think any empire is nearby though, they are 200 ly down. Conflict zones come and go. Maybe check out Kappa fornicus where the onionhead fiasco is/was

Would you also like an On-suite bathroom and maybe a pool and jacuzzi with that? Walk in closets and a dedicated Movie room? j/k. :)

Can't help ya with the conflict zone aspect but I prefer to hang out by Komovoy. It is an anarchy system that is surrounded by Fed space but also has an Imp system (Codorain) and an Alliance system (Arque) close by. Makes it real easy to turn in bounties.
Plenty of Fed systems for you to choose from, but not sure how many are High Tech which is probably what you would want.

Hope that helps.

Home is where the money is?

So, im still hanging around my starting system of LHS 3447, ive got about 140k credits, a Hauler and the Eagle. Is it worth going all the way to the Eranin area and get set up or should I stay put at 3447, if it is which ship should I take, Hauler or Eagle? I hear you can cash in on warzones and other story events over there but I dont like the idea of leaving one of my ships behind...

Lh 3447 is nice but it's just a big nest. A big crowded nest. Unless you want to do a lot of ferrying, you're going to have to say good by to one of your ships. You can always buy a new one once you get to a place you like better.

I left and headed off towards Lave. Along the way, I found a nice system I like that's about 70 LY from 3447. I've ben there about a week now and it's wide open. I've not seen another live player since i got there.

If you do decide to leave, I'd sell the hauler and travel in the Eagle. If you get jumped along the way, you'll be able to protect yourself better wth it or escape easier if you have to. I'd also recommend buying a fuel scoop just in case you get low on fuel and can't find a staton. A little heads usp, Brown drawf stars are not scoopable.

Have fun

Ok so I am going to travel in that general direction then, is Eranin the best system to go to or should I go Lave or some other place

I don't know, I've gotten side tracked and not made it there yet. I hear Lave is pretty nice for trading and other thigs but I'm content right now where I am.

Yeah, I'm currently near Lave/Leesti doing trade runs and improving faction rep. It's really nice around there :)

Searching for the ideal home base

Fellow commanders,

I'm hoping someone with a little more knowledge of the galaxy may give me a good suggestion on where to set up shop.

I'm a federal cadet, gonna be doing mostly bounty hunting with the occasional trading and privateer work. I thought I found a good location in federal space neat Lave, as I planned on doing my privateering in independent and alliance space, making alliance my "enemies," as I'm a bit of a brown coat and alliance are "bad guys." (Firefly) The problem with that, however, is that Lave and a few of the other Rare goods stations are alliance and that would overly complicate any trading endevears that began nearby.
Perhaps there is empire space nearby and I can switch to making them my enemies? The federation and empire are fairly hostile in elite story, anyhow, correct? I'm at work so I can't check at the moment.
Are there any other rare hubs in federation space that have alliance or empire space nearby?

I know the universe is sorta big and all and I can find what I'm looking for, just thought someone might have looked for similar criteria and could share some tips.

Thanks and fly safe
Wombat
