Started out using Janes Horizons in Arexe then moved a couple systems over to George Lucas in Leesti. Janes has a better range of gear, but they're still both high tech stations. And George Lucas has a black market.
There's a lot of rares nearby, but I'm not really a trader. And easy access to all three factions thanks to Codorain being in easy reach.

However, I've since headed back to PLX 695 in an attempt to try and progress with the Federation. While I'm friendly with both the Alliance and the Empire back home, I wasn't getting faction rank progression missions for them.

its got alliance, feds and an empire area pretty close so good for collecting bounties. and it has the most hardworking slaves ;)

Freeport was my home during the beta. But atm the moment I'm working towards having a backup viper at all the homeworlds; Sol, Alioth, Achenar. Since I have been hearing all those horror stories about when you do something wrong and mess up your rep in some region.

Currently, as others have mentioned, my ship is my home. I'm heading galactic centrewards..... with the odd trip back to independent space for repairs, refitting and data sales

Chowei holds my other two ships while I trade in my T7, bounty hunt in my Viper, or explore in my Adder(soon to be Cobra.). It's very convenient for bounty hunting, as it is a Fed system, is close to an Empire system, and is a few long jumps away from an Alliance system.

and most importantly only a very small filthy Federation presence!!

Fujin area. Running the Fujin <-> Lave rare goods circuit and Fujin looks closer to the Empire, which I want to explore next. My Cobra is stored at 51 Arietis.

Used to be there, then stumbled across LTT 15461. It has RES, a good Fed station with all you need, plus an outpost style station (ie. no scanning for stolen goods) which also has a Black Market on board. It's like heaven :)
