I doubt they will bother with keys - in fact I believe they are counting on those of us wanting it on steam will buy it again - so they can rake in more money.

I'd like a steam key if they have the time to do it, but it's hardly a big deal. We can still play the game and all we're missing out on is the time played. I don't give a monkeys about achievements or any of that junk.

Who would be stupid enough to buy a key just to be able to track their stats, i doubt they're relying on that to sell keys.

I got mine as i was planning to get another account eventually, having the game on steam is just a bonus.

I have seen a few people say that they don't want a key because they don't want steam to download things while ED is running. Steam has had the option to disallow downloading updates while a game is running for ages and this can be set globally and/or per game.
I personally like steam, mainly because when you have 50+ games installed at any one time it would be basically impossible to keep them all updated and then having to wait for your game to update before you can play, its why steam was created in the first place. Not to mention that it just streamlines things, and no adding it as a non-steam game is not the same.

I vote yes

I'd like to have a Steam key, yes. It'd be easier in my opinion. I'm happy to pay for skins to help the devs, but I wont purchase another copy. I'd rather spend that money elsewhere.
People who say "Just buy another copy" are silly and haven't been taught the value of money, either that or have too much than they know what to do with.
If you don't want it it on steam, to each his own. If FD decide to give out Steam keys to people who already own Elite, just don't redeem them. I guess you will even if you don't want it.
Just my two cents.

I am happy that Elite is now on Steam, as it will bring new people and an additional revenue source. All good stuff. E : D was the first non-Steam game I purchased in at least 2 years.

Having Frontier jump through hoops to give me a Steam key so I can keep Elite in one nice, neat place with my other games would be really convenient, but it's a nice-to-have. It's not worth it for me to buy the game again to have it in Steam, so I don't expect Frontier to make huge efforts to satisfy my desire for convenience.

If they do it anyway, awesome. If not, well, I'll be too busy trying to escape an inconvenient interdiction to give it much more thought!

Ehhhh... not going to happen. Just a few would do that crazyness, while most early buyers would be displeased with Frontier if they do not provide keys.

Funny thing is most developers provide a free steam key to every user who bought their game earlier as a way to thank them, so naturally we expect the same from Frontier.

<3 Steam

Hate it's greenlight and the mess it's made the store, but I still love the interface and it's Messiah GabeN

All hail the GabeN!....... ahem, sorry

But yes, I'd like to have a key to transfer the game to Steam. And if it could just detect the previous installation and move it to the affected folders so I don't have to blow my datacap redownloading the game, I'll show my gratitude by buying a set of skins for my ASP. :)

I could live without it but as i have a massive steam library i would welcome the option to keep ED updated via steam and have the social aspects and achievements included would be a nice touch, i voted yes but i wouldn't want distract the devs from adding more content to the game. so yes but not in a hurry.

Voted Yes.

It is not crucial for me personally, though, if it can boost some statistics and support for the devs and game by running it purely through steam, sure, i may take one. :)

Yes, but only if I have the chance to run it without steam as well.

If a key will void my ability to launch it from the launcher without opening steam, I am out.

Being I said yes would like one, its not anywhere near a priority. Rather see them work on the game over seeing to getting supporters Steam keys, plus having the steam key will then scare me with the amount of hours I have played LOL
