I can't reply since I'm new to forums, but I still say YES.

Also, I only created an account to complain about Frontier saying no to Steam distribution forever, and then without warning, adding their product to Steam. This is extremely disrespectful to the players that truly love this game, as without initial success from initial fans, probably wouldn't have seen the light of day on Steam, nor would Frontier have probably thought it worth porting to Xbox One (which I hear they are doing)

All decisions are FD to make, as it should be. After all they are the ones who will receive the pat on the back or kick in the butt for their decisions. They also receive or lose out on the money. I only hope they can see how giving Steam Keys for those of us who already own the game would be more beneficial than detrimental.

I would also like a key, if they are being offered.

That said, I don't understand the folks that think that keys being made available to those that want them somehow taints their copy of the game. Unless, of course, they think associating with Steam will then be the only way to run the game (which I actually agree shoudln't be the case).

Steam key

I would like a steam key, there is no reason why they should not provide everyone who purchase's the game with a steam key, they are not getting two copy's of the game. You will still only have one account just two sources you can install it on, for example i have elite installed on 3 pc's and can get up from one and go log in on another. I still have only one account though. There should not even be a question of providing there valued customers with access to a Steam key as i can only make more money for both Steam and Frontier by giving them more exposure to future customers.

The only problem with this whole elite on Steam thing is the folks at Steam will find some way to screw it up and cause some of the Elite customers grief as only the Valve/Steam people can.

Personally, I would like this because Steam is where I have every digitally released game I own (except Elite: Dangerous). Having one game not where the rest are can be a PITA.
Not having that one game there means when I take a break, it's easier to forget about.

I think it would be nice of Frontier to offer support for those who wish to have the steam client manage updates ect via steam.

Especially with me i work for a living and have many projects at times so when i game i like when the game that i choose to unwind to is ready and to be honest one thing that i don't like about Elite Dangerous is the updates, sure i want updates, and love what you guys are doing but its annoying to get some free time to find out oh i got to wait 2 hours for an update due to the fact that i live in Australia with an backward government and communications monopoly but your servers do seem to take longer then other games.

Everything else in the game i love....:D maybe the console support i hope they get a different server because i would hate to fly past one of those in my sexy PC all to be lagged out by some fool using a console to play a game that FPS is everything.

Also i can recruit my steam friends with out doing constantly talking to them about a game they have never played.

I hope Frontier will provide a key because if i got the game today i would have got it via steam simply because for me there is many advantages to having Elite on steam as mentioned above.

I also have no idea why so many get all tetchy about steam.............smegheads.

P.S soon as i can vote i will but i am not granted forum geek status as i spend my Free time playing ELITE......

Can't care less about the Steam key (although why Frontier wouldn't want the people who were interested enough in the game to kickstart it to be able to review it on the world's largest game marketplace is beyond my - admittedly limited - understanding), but I just popped up to say to all affected people we told you so.

I'm really sorry, but we warned you, back in the old days, back in the offline threadnaught(s). We told you you would be next.

Well, now you are. Welcome to the club; it's not a very happy place.

Or, as the saying goes, all of this has happened before, and will happen again (at least until the servers go down, and the game dies, and is forgotten). :(

I definately want my Steam key, would not have even bought game before if would've know it comes to Steam, but everyone was like "no, it's not coming Steam ever", so gave up, too easily it seems!

Yes to Steam. Personally, I like the organization Steam provides (all facets of the game... store, discussion, etc) , built in streaming and friend association. I've found that the friend component of Steam is a good way to share game exposure and diversity.

I don't think there is a decision to be made. Not giving out Steam keys would be an insulting move in my opinion. There is no "Let's see if players want this", it should be a 'Let's provide it to people that want it". This shouldn't have become a thing in the first place, it should have been:
Dev: "Well, we are launching this on Steam now I guess. People are gonna want Steam Keys. Let's look into that BEFORE we put it up."
Management: "Good idea Dev! Make it so!"

Instead we got:

Dev: "Well, we are launching this on Steam now I guess. People are gonna want Steam Keys. Let's look into that BEFORE we put it up."
Management: "Nah, screw it. People don't want that, who would want that? That would waste time, and wasted time is wasted money. I mean, who would want a Steam key when they have our launcher? Am I right? I know I'm right."

Please, Frontier... Please, please, please.

I bought Elite: Dangerous on 27 March 2015, I don't know if it was announced by then, but if I knew it was coming to Steam I would have waited the week or so.

I have the 2K+ (Gaming God) :p badge on Steam and would reaaaaly like a Steam Key. If it is a one-time switch to Steam, I would not mind.

Yes, please.

Yes, please. I would like a Steam key.

I don't need to reiterate what everyone else is saying, but I will anyway.
I purchased the game recently because it looked like everything I wanted from a game. The first thing I did was look to see if it was available from Steam. When all information pointing to the game possibly never coming to Steam, I purchased the game.
It may not be a huge deal, but if that's true, why not make everyone happy? If it's not a huge deal and all
