A POTENTIAL LEAD (Message from Professor Alba Tesreau, former Head of Research of Aegis)

As I was driving about the ruin, that thought occurred to me. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to get out and wander about in the ruined buildings to look for clues.
I started on foot just to realize that there was nothing to do (at least that I found), so got into the SRV and got the logs. FWIW, I also didn't receive the mail and read about it here. Makes me think that there ought to be a way to scan these data ports on foot too..

Frontier really need to get a little braver in presenting content that includes on-foot elements, after all, up until Horizons was given to everyone who didn't own it, there was exclusive Horizons content and ships, EDO should be no different.
I did with my PC account, the specific elements of the base that were destroyed intrigued me, standing almost right next to structures that appeared to be functional and powered, (the lights are on).
Perhaps they might have included an EDO dataport, but it would have to be generic EDO data; Chemical test results, Genetic Research, Production Schedule etc.

Yeah, but that would require FD to actually take advantage of their extant mechanics to some degree.

They've never really done that effectively to date, not even with Horizons mechanics, despite the potential. Odyssey doesn't really change that problem.

This two year narrative began before Odyssey. While the end of it could and perhaps should lead to Odyssey only content, be it Thargoids on the ground or whatever, excluding Horizons players from participating before the story concludes, presumably in August-September, would be a bad move and a slap in the face to those who have participated thus far. How well they have used the mechanics of either Horizons or Odyssey doesn't really enter into it in that respect.

When this story ends then by all means go for the emphasis on new Odyssey content. By that time we will all have been waiting long enough for it. For now, although it's frustrating not to have more new things, I can at least understand the rationale behind it, such as it is.

Like i said... FD don't even do it for Horizons. Why would they suddenly start doing it with Odyssey.

Though i do disagree with the general sentiment; you seem to be suggesting optional downloadable content somehow shouldn't contain content.

Just watched Burr Pit Video on this content, and in it he teased the possibility of Thargoid Hive Ships (tin foil hattery) as a potential conclusion to the saga, with those ships serving as a new EDO FPS spaces.

Thought I'd look up some of the older threads on the size of Thargoid Structures which have been hypothesized to be hive ships:

I would absolutely be thrilled if I could engage in ship to ship AX CZ with a mothership.

More than likely though, current in game assets would be used with a green hue like the ones found on this Cannon page.

I truly hope the Witch brings us something to shoot at.

Did they include Horizons narrative content before it was folded into the base game?
Edit; I think it was Beyond when they put in the INRA bases and the Pleiades abandoned settlements

Nope i didnt get a codex entry either, just checked again and nothing, thought it maybe under Abandoned Settlements.

Checked multiple times but no trace of the logs in my codex 😕
Just another one of the non-critical & not game-breaking bugs that should be addressed sometime.

Aye but to be fair this is the first time its happened to me, im sure it will get sorted, ive submitted a ticket anyway.

While I try and be positive about the narrative, I think this was another wasted opportunity. At least put in a bit of a breadcrumb trail, or require us to do some thinking, not just "oh, read this, it answers the questions of the last 2 years plotline in 1 paragraph".

Rather reminds me of the "rescue the Emperor" non-event. Oh look, it's happened in the background, not even an attempt at player engagement.

sigh

And what's frustrating is that it wouldn't take much effort, or thought, to make it so much better.

That would make sense as a criticism if this was the end point.

Found some artificial structures on planet C1, althought no idea if they have anything to do with the current lead.

A year of "who is Salvation", wrapped up in one 5 minute read of "oh, it's this guy". No game play, no gradual reveal over a couple of days, just the answer.

Whether it leads on to something else is irrelevant; this stage could have been made so much more of.

Being revealed like this hopefully means there is much more to it.
Hopefully

The closest we got really was Prof. Thomas Dorne, the same objective of wiping out the Thargoids is evident. It wouldn't surprise me to see the name crop up again.
I think both now have a target on their backs. Given S seems to be moving toward a decisive strike it suggests they got what they wanted.
Human piloted Thargoid craft?
The next encounter with the Black Flight could be interesting...
