Newcomer / Intro A Question About Restarting? and Starting Locations

I've recently started playing, and apart from a somewhat hilarious incident involving docking in LHS 3447 at Dalton Station, I'm doing fine, but a friend of mine has also been "bullied" i mean encouraged into playing, yet they report they are no where near where i started.

My question is therefore thus, is there a way for me to "start over?" and spawn closer to them, cause right now i appear to be looking at quite a long trek to meet up?

I'm know from what i've read this would mean loosing all my stuff, credits, name, free eagle ship, but i haven't seen anyone being clear about how you go about doing this "restart" therefore any input would be appreciated

The starting locations are random. So might have to try a few times to spawn closer to your friend.
You will loose your stuff, credits. But I don't think you will lose your name and free eagle since it is part of the mercenary pack. You can restart with that all the time.

BTW - eventually you will be able to reach him no matter where he is. I have an ASP Explorer with A1 Frame shift drive and I can jump 29 ly... so you can do 100ly in 3-4 jumps. The Lakon Type 7 has a great range and is under 100 000 cr and you can get that in a few nights of gameplay.

I've restarted about 5 times today and each time I'm in the same place. You do NOT loose your free Eagle and you'll start with 1000 credits each time, just like you did the first time. And no, you don't loose your name either.

The starting locations are random. So might have to try a few times to spawn closer to your friend.

Errm the lakon type 7 is 16,000,000. I know this because I run around in one. The Lakon 6 is 1,000,000 but the small haulage ship is called the Hauler and is about 53,000 credits I think you may be thinking of that one

How do you restart man?

I believe you clear your save from the main menu but I am not absolutely sure.

We found the option to clear the save, which for anyone else who is curious can be found in the main menu under options

I didn't even know you can increase your jump distance at all, so thanks for the heads up Blackhound

Oh and after a few restarts my friend and I managed to end up in the same area, though it did ask me to name my commander again twice which was a bit weird

Happy to have helped you.

Btw You can upgrade your ships also with similar results.. If you get a better frame shift drive you will increase your range also. Watch out for the impact in weight of each upgrades have on your range... because at start we get all exited and buy everything and end up reducing our range. Decide what you want to do (trading, fighting, mining) and only get the upgrades you need for one because the extra stuff will weigth you down.
