A question for the Mistress of Minions !

Hi Sarah

I've been spending a lot of time in fighters and letting my crewman helm the mothership and he is doing a sterling job.

Some things I have noticed and was curious about :

Bart (my NPC) absolutely LOVES rails. In fact he loves them so much that he won't even wait until the whole rail firegroup is cooled down and ready to fire.

As soon as there is enough WEP to spam at least one he lights them up. This leads to wonky rail ammo when I jump back into the helm, no biggie mind you stuff is getting killed at an efficient rate.

He also digs my pack-hounds but unlike regular NPCs has the presence of mind to not spam them at ships that still have shields online. This is good !

For some bizarre reason on my Conda he won't use my monstrous dakka firegroup (3 large and a huge) when shields are down on the enemy and will continue to rail spam them (2 medium) with great vengeance and furious anger. When he gets low on rails he decides it's time to let the dakka rip.

Question is how do they prioritise what to fire and when to fire it ?

Cheers

Hi! This sounds like something I can adjust. I have an idea how to make it work better, a small change to the decision logic based on available hardpoints and their class. :)

.... and scare me too - with the unearthly power at her fingertips.... ;)

While we're at it.
Someone noticed following scenario happenig, or is it just me?

When, say, in a conda, SLF onboard, running a mission, i get interdicted.
When i deploy the SLF under NPC control, fight starts normally, i destroy the pirate and move on.
When i deploy the SLF under my control, pirate flees asap, without opening fire in the first place.

?

They're obviously intimidated by your SLF's green mohawk and spiked collar...

(Seriously though, not something I've seen myself. On the other hand, I still don't trust my crewman to fly my Cutter. Leaves power settings all over the place, eats cheetos in the cockpit and tries to spin my bobbleheads in place...)

One thing I've noticed;

If pirates scan my Anaconda for cargo, while I'm flying it, they say "Woah, I wasn't doing anything" and run off.

If I'm flying my SLF, and pirates scan the same ship, but piloted by my dangerous crew member, they open fire. Lol

I think my crew member is bad mouthing them over a private channel.....

Man Sarah how I wish you worked on the planet surface team, it would be so incredibly nice to have real discussions about issues such as the beigefication like you always do with regards to the AI. It's always a joy to hear you state things so openly and plainly, and it just seems like you love the work you do while also respecting our questions and concerns too.

Thanks Sarah for all of your efforts and communications. Can we clone you maybe?

Threat based prioritization would be nice, as would an awareness of weapon special effects. I tend to conserve ammunition until I need it, or until the effects are useful, using more renewable damage sources (lasers) for lesser threats. However, my NPC crew will happily empty ammo into ships that are trivial threats and use weapons with effects that aren't applicable to the situation.
