Ships A-rated Thrusters worth it?

Title kinda of says it.
When the PP reset kicks in ill be able to afford the A-rated Thrusters for this beauty of a ship, however this requires me to get an A-rated Powerplant as well (16 million for each, phew)
Im just asking if the speed is a noticeable diffrence, as upgrading both from B will be a massive imporvement to the jumprange.
While im at it, should i upgrade the SCB to an A aswell? (currently B) Is the loss of a charge worth the extra jumprange and shield recharge strength?

Thanks in advance

YES!! Always always get A-rated thrusters on a combat ship. Higher grade thrusters increases not only your speed, but also your agility. Always always get A-rated thrusters in a combat ship. A-rated is also useful for traders for running from interdictions. A-rated is not a necessity for explorers ... unless you do a lot of planetary landings in which case it is.

By the way, remember that you can play with power priorities in your module screen. You can set things like your cargo hatch, frame shift drive, fuel scoop and any other module not actively used in combat in a lower priority.

I think both A plant and thrusters on FAS are worth it.
Also, SCB?) Don't really see the point with this kind of shields. Just load it with armor IMO.

I'd wait until Engineers is released as a level 5 mod to D/C thrusters will get close to 6A in agility although it'll be a little slower.

I've just tested this in Beta on a Dropship fitted with 6D thrusters speed up from around 140 to almost 190, boost around 300 to about 340 it flys like D/C grade FAS but with more drift, the cost would be the time required to collect the data and materials for the Engineer rather than 30 mil or so for existing hardware.

This the build I'm running with a level 5 mod on 6D thrusters and the class 2 m-cannon replaced with a class 3

But then A-grade thrusters can be upgraded too... and with them fully armoured FAS can have 500m/s boost...
I see no reason to use low-grade thrusters on combat ship, and spend time/materials upgrading them.

I use it primarily as a bounty hunter, not having shields gives me some uglybrepair bills

I use mine as a bounty hunter, and I run bi-weaves, no SCBs, sometimes 2 boosters or none. There's simply no point trying to make it a shield tank, because multiplier that devs mandatory write in is extremely low.
Never have problems with repair bills.
It's so maneuverable that you can avoid most of the fire, and so armored that few shots to the hull here and there don't really do anything.

I agree that currently the medium size Fed ships have poor shields but take them to an Engineer's base and they can be significantly upgraded (shield boosters A0 up to 220%) on top of improved shields, as to thrusters even a C grade isn't far off the 0.5 ratio with a medium - heavy armour build and other than additional speed the improvements to agility are very small.

Have you tried modding the fsd in engineers? I have recently got a fds and really enjoy flying it until I want to go somewhere and then the jump range is painful. From other posts on the beta it sounds as if the max increase on jump range is about 20-30%? This would still only bring the fds up to about 20ly:(

Only 20? Most combat ships can't even dream about 20, with or without fsd upgrades. 20 is good.

The best you can get for FSD's is the level 5 at about 25% range increase and that will take a lot of resource with the engineer in the released update, not sure without checking in game but I'd guess around 18 LY, no cargo with a level 5 mod, do what I do fit a scoop or an additional fuel tank.

I have a fuel scoop. It isn't the best ship to scoop in because of its heat problems but then again it doesn't take too long to fill after one jump. I just have to pay attention to get a reasonable fill rate without going too deep and getting heat problems. Of course having a small fuel tank means you have to check that you don't have too many non-scoopables en route.

The problem with the low jump distance is when you want to travel a long distance and are faced with a large number of jumps. Even a modest increase would help because it allows a straighter course. However, whether it will be worth the grind to get is another matter.

Quite simply.....Yes. I use my FAS exclusively for HazRes/ HiRes Bounty Hunting. It is A rated where it counts - PP, Thrusters, FSD, PD and I run a 5A standard shield generator, although you could easily go Bi-Weave here. All other essential modules are D rated for weight. When travelling to a new site, I fit a 4 or 5A Fuel scoop and then offload it again once I get to the next target system, and fill 2 or 3 of the internals with HRPs.
1) I don't use SCBs - as another poster has said, you can avoid enemy fire once A rated - it is a joy to fly and I consider it my new Vulture. I cannot remember the last time I lost more than 2 rings of shields - I also have x2 A0 Shield boosters.
2) You need to go to discount system, then your 16m Cr turns into 13m Cr so saving you 6m Cr across the two items and reducing your insurance. I have typically gone to LHS20 - Ohm City for my various FAS's that I have bought, sold and re-bought over my career
