A Rehashed JPOG?

Disclaimer and my Opinion
The game definitely has similarities to Operation Genesis, but I really don’t think that is a bad thing as it was a good game in my view. But, I am happy to concede that JWE is looking to be a fantastic improvement to its predecessor as it has expanded in areas that JPOG did not have. THUS, I decided to pay for the pre-order. I would like to say now that I won’t be speculating on anything that I did not see in any of the footage that has been provided so far, whether it was the official gameplay demo or a youtuber. I would also like to say everything is also just my opinion, I am very happy for anyone to disagree with me or correct me where I am incorrect. I also acknowledge it was only a demo, and the game could change or be different on release…but I can only comment on what I have seen. Moving on….

Aesthetics
Graphically outstanding dinosaurs, the cutscenes as they are introduced into their paddocks is a wonderful feature. But I must admit that I am also grateful there is an option to skip, and hopefully in the release there will be an option to turn it off. The partial insight we got into the weather system was also aesthetically pleasing, it really adds something to the game. In addition, I really liked the realistic looking terrain, it makes the dinosaurs near them feel more natural and beautiful. However, the landscape tools, maybe a little too basic? Not many options from what we saw in the demo. It might be a small issue to some, but no rocks either? BUT it was only a demo I guess. Maybe other islands have different landscaping aesthetics, well that’s my hope. The buildings look okay, I think they could be doing with improvements in terms of how they look. Not being able to edit that is disappointing, but I don’t think it will ruin the game for me. Overall the game is looking beautiful and it was only a demonstration, but I think we can agree the look of guests could be doing with major improvements and hopefully there will be more animations in terms of behaviours of dinosaurs/guests.

Gameplay
I love the contracts and missions as a part of the game. The implied consequences from the missions directly have me very curious and certainly something I am looking to make happen. Furthermore, having three divisions vying for my attention and my decisions affecting that relationship with them I feel is a great addition. I am happy that a controller system is in place if I want to use it, as I will be on a PC version of the game it will make flying a lot easier. The cosmetic gene research tree, I was grateful to see. The idea that I can change the look of a dinosaur minorly was very pleasing news. In fact, the ability to modify the dinosaurs genes is a great addition especially since it was very important in the novels as a topic and in the movies. I think it show’s that Frontier have put a lot of effort in when it comes to lore. I am glad there are varying degrees to the dinosaur’s happiness and their requirements, I feel that was a natural addition to the game anyway. The importance that power production has for park creation I felt added some challenge into the game and ensures that you are limited to what you can achieve with how much power you can produce. As far as I can remember it will be particularly important when having electrified fences, don’t want the dinosaurs getting out after all…or do we? Overall, from the footage I have seen I am excited to get playing the game when it comes out!

I too am still pretty hyped for the game though I have some issues with it. These have already been explained by me and others multiple times so I won't repeat them here. The graphics look almost movie like when I watch the videos, especially the Dinosaurs. Frontier seems to be pushing to get the game out to the public and I can't wait to see what DLC we get free or not. From the interviews I have seen they seem to definitely plan to keep adding to the game after launch. Hopefully improvements will come in patches and DLC.

I also have a controller, an Xbox 360 wired controller I bought to use in certain games. If the helicopter flying is that bad I hope my 360 controller will work. Of course I prefer not to use a controller cause I prefer mouse and keyboard when it comes to precision things like shooting and aiming in game. The mouse just makes that so much better. I will try flying the helicopter with a mouse and keyboard though. I don't see how it could be that bad since you can't crash the helicopter into buildings or Dinosaurs.

I think they are making it movie like, because Jurassic Park Fallen Kingdom is pretty much being released at the same time, and I am certain they are working together to maximise the games sales by releasing it at the same time. I dont think Frontier are pushing for the game to be released, I imagine its pressure from Universal more than anything. But like you said, give me DLC and patches as time goes on and I will be more than satisfied.

Frontier is self publishing and funding the game so they aren't getting any pressure from Universal. It would all be internal pressure from within Frontier to deliver the game.

There is most certainly external pressure too, to say the company that owns the rights to Jurassic Park has no influence or the ability to add pressure on them...well it doesn't make sense to me anyway.

The only pressure I can see Universal putting on them is what they do with their copyrighted assets and what goes on in the game. Frontier wants a teen rating and Universal said they can't have any kids in the game, well not getting killed anyway. So there won't be any kids.

I don't think they are putting any kind of pressure on them to release the game since it basically has no tie in with JWFK and Frontier is funding the game themselves as well as publishing it.

I've been reading a lot about JPOG, but I never played it, so all of this is new for me :D For which I am very excited!
