A request to Lakon...

I think Lakon need to introduce an "Are you sure?" message when you (unintentionally) deactivate key flight modules during FSD operation! I can see this being very useful in the prevention of ship hull and module damage.

Enough said?

Sounds like you repaired FSD while super cruising.:D Be there done it couple times and it will happen again. Yeah so Lakon, get on it.

I agree.

What no cruise control :)

But then again I have fiddled with repairing modules while in SC, you live and learn. DO NOT DO IT AGAIN.

I should've appended a smiley on that comment as it was made in jest :)

By the way - isn't there a sign in the cockpit that says "this panel is not accessible while engine is running" ? ;)

there is but still Lakon does also install a ShipsAI - so why can't the AI be a bit more help-full instead of just saying "friendship drive charging" in a real sexy voice.

Lakon could also use intelligent carbon nano-tube strengthened glass instead of that cheap "shatter-proof" stuff on the canopy!

grumble grumble rhubarb...

Inexplicably, I turned off the Thrusters module in SC. No idea how I managed it. Ironically, I was checking on module health status when this happened. I must have pressed SPACE instead of SHIFT?

Entirely my own fault and, of course, I take full responsibility for the obvious damage that should follow such a stupid course of action.

Oh well. 'Tis done now.

I almost hope they dont "fix" it, this seems to be kind of a right of a passage for explorers.

Getting tossed into a close binary and coming out smoking,
shutting down your thrusters in SC
not paying attention and leaving yourself pointed at a star before going afk
Finding your first earthlike and taking 167 pictures.
Getting yanked out of SC by a neutron star when you werent expecting it.
Being terrified of black holes and then, eventually, walking right up to one and sitting in it so you can laugh at your friends getting older.

These are what an exploring career is made of.

Absolutely. Completely agree.

I don't want it fixing. Sorry if this looked like a whine. It certainly wasn't.

The problem with brief text is you can't easily convey the head in hands feeling you experience when you carry out the most inappropriate action...for no reason other than a momentary lapse of concentration.

Flying more carefully

Hah ! Happened to me too last week !

"surely as the FSD is in charge of supercruise I can turn off thrusters to generate less heat when I'm so close to the sun... Welp, seems I'll be looking for the escape vector."

Fly safe, Commanders ! o7

Welp, seems I'll be looking for the escape vector.

Yeah.... I think Ive said that about 15 times this trip for various reasons. The most embarrassing was underestimating a T dwarves gravitational pull. That one really felt like tripping over my own foot.

Hrmpf? What is this? Lakon only?
That's ship manufacturer-ist..!
Don't forget about us Connie drivers and everyone else, i propose this to be galactic standard for ALL ships!
#equalitykindof

Did both of these things a few times then learnt very quickly. I made a habit of dropping out of SC before logging off and doing repairs on key systems so I came back to the game ready to go.

I think implementing too many safetys will make exploration no challenge/skill at all.

I mean trading you need to know about the economy and which system supplies which, illegal goods, avoiding pirates etc
Combat has obvious dangers.

All exploring really has is dropping out of SC by accident and heat damage. Know about those and you're solid as proven by the people who get to SAG A with 100% hull.
(in the future) possibly thargoids but no reason to make things too easy. I'd expect a further exploration credit buff when this happens as the data becomes more valuable with the new dangers. ;)

Jon - knowing you as a very competent T6 comander, I know your request is more tongue in cheek. Especially as we all know the flying brick is low on frills and high on thrills :)
