Did both of these things a few times then learnt very quickly. I made a habit of dropping out of SC before logging off and doing repairs on key systems so I came back to the game ready to go.
I think implementing too many safetys will make exploration no challenge/skill at all.
I mean trading you need to know about the economy and which system supplies which, illegal goods, avoiding pirates etc
Combat has obvious dangers.
All exploring really has is dropping out of SC by accident and heat damage. Know about those and you're solid as proven by the people who get to SAG A with 100% hull.
(in the future) possibly thargoids but no reason to make things too easy. I'd expect a further exploration credit buff when this happens as the data becomes more valuable with the new dangers.
