A solution to the beige planet problem: Planet packs!

The advertising is quite plain to see. Planets that were used in the video's for Horizons showed variety of colour which is no longer there. They advertised Horizons with the use of colourful planets. Now they are gone - changed to a shade of poop or pink. The advertising did not show this or explain that planets would change in any way in either colour or topography and yet they have.

It is akin to buying a PC advertised with a nvidia 1080 inside but after a few months it suddenly changes to an AMD Fury - Your saying we should now pay for the 1080 despite the product being advertised as including it. No matter how you try to spin this there is no way the community would pay for this.

And once again, just in-case you missed it the first time - Frontier are looking into this so the whole thread is basically arguing a mute point hence I will say no more on the subject except point out you also would like to have stuff for free...

What? So you're saying that all the stuff that appears in the trailers should be available, for free? Just be glad FDev gave a few months of free trial for planetary colours... I'll surely buy a few of those :D
This isn't a computer dude, it's a dynamic game constantly in development. Of course some things will change from time to time.

As for your last point, I'll just redirect you to an earlier comment of mine in this thread...

It's more like a... Thought experiment.

I like this idea.

I also thought he was taking the mick.

Shall we start playing for star packs? Lets turn all stars whiteish yellow, but fear not, buy the star pack and view them all in wonderful Technicolor again :D

You're forgetting again that Horizons included the planets, not the colours. You paid for the planets and you have the planets, but you shouldn't get something that you didn't pay for for free. It's very nice that you're an explorer and all but to a bubble dweller like me a many others, such matters aren't that important, so I don't see how it'd be fair for FDev to spend my money on something that will be just for you, for free.

FDev said they're looking into the matter yeah but at no moment have they said it'd be free. I really hope they see this thread... The more money they can get, the better the development will be.

You say these cosmetic colours were in the trailers? So what? So are paintjobs, shipkits, suits, etc. I don't see anything wrong with FDev promoting their material for their game in their trailers.

1- Of course they're not relevant, they're just cosmetic. I'm sure they have smart programmers that would be able to introduce something like this into the game.
2- Where? As far as I know they said "microtransactions for cosmetics". This is just cosmetic.
3- As I said, the way it currently is has been a lucky shot by Frontier, because it is more realistic. It's never happened before you say? But they did it with the DBX already!
4- Of course it's not funny. It's a very serious post. I guess you just don't want FDev to keep developing the game then. Thanks for leaving that clear.
5- What? Suggesting new ways for my favourite developer to be able to keep developing my favourite game is bad?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.
You're just being purposefully moronic, now I got it!!!

:D Ok ok you win. Goodbye to Ignoreland!
Ciao.

I'd be down for that, assuming of course they use the money to further fund the game and they don't use for for other projects. Imagine a green star pack... I'd buy that in the blink of an eye.

FD confirmed beigeification is an error and they are making a fix. Can we just stop this?

But they never said the "fix" as you call it, would be free. Want colours? Pay for them. We people that don't care about colours shouldn't pay for your stuff.

Assuming this is humour I award many points :)

If this isn't meant to be humour then I'm not quite sure where to begin.. Err, no!

The ambiguity and reaction adds to the humour points.

I do have to chuckle when people bring up Frontier spending money raised from sales of Elite on things other than Elite.

Tell me when you go to Tesco do you stipulate to the person at the counter that the money you spend in store is only spent on more cocktail sausages and gin or do you accept that once you give them money they can choose to spend it when and where they want?

It's Forums. If you start to take things too seriously, you're either lose your mind or your account. :p

Btw. I agree. I do miss the RGB surfaces a little, but I am still able to find places like this:

(And yes, I am aware of the fact that this is an icy planet so the blue is more prominent, but the rocky world next door wasn't that much different)

It's more realistic that the star is creating colours, rather than planet texture map, imo.

Yeah, I'm more liable to lose my account - especially if I stop filtering my initial responses :D

I think the OP is trying to make a point.

Although I suspect he doesn't quite know what point he is trying to make.

Trust me, I'm well aware of the point I'm trying to make. Some people get it, and some people don't and jump at my throat. But that's to be expected.

An alternate solution requiring no dev work at all:

1) Buy tin of Quality Street
2) Eat all yummy (no, wait, this is Quality Street!) chocolate
3) Remove coloured transparent wrappers
4) Stick colours of choice to eyebrows
5) ...
6) Profit

Being serious for a moment, while additional colours would make things interesting for a while, I suspect it wouldn't be too long before people started thinking "Oh look! Another mauvy shade of pinky russet planet! That's the 10th I've seen in the last hour".

I'm also fairly certain that it must be easier for FD to fix the beige issue than it would be for them to introduce a mechanism that allows planetary colours to be changed on a per player basis.

Finally, I think I prefer all players to see the world the same way - though I'll undermine this argument by pointing out that there are probably no two players with the same graphics card, monitors and graphics settings anywhere in the world.

You are having a real hard time comprehending a few simple part of this.

The company that made the changes have said they will look into the matter and where required, change the settings - No mention of any costs what so ever.

When did I say all the stuff in the trailer should be for free - stop putting words into my mouth that I never uttered - second time you've done that now, shows a weak argument on your behalf, sorry if that sounds harsh but I won't have people say I said something I did not.

This is where I really do drop out of this conversation - you seem to be looking for 'Yes' men to back up your position, good luck with that Sali.

Is this proof that you are trolling - because it sure seems like it to me - If you cannot come to the forums with a solid debate - stay home please.
