About all the dissatisfaction of the playerbase...

I was thinking about the fact that a lot of players feel frustrated by being unable to face all the big, engineered ships that grief newbies and regular players in their trades. About the malcontent too, which leads them to give up Open Play. And leading to give up the game at all when they see those cases of easy money being fixed/nerfed.

And i realised... that the problem has been exactly all the easy money occasions happened till now: all the bugs/mechanics not fixed in time and the assets they generated (which had been kept by FD in the players pockets). A lot of those multi-billionaire griefers who have no problems risking their 60M rebuy ships are indeed sons of those exploits.

Also, if we don't talk about griefers, but just normal multi-billionaires owning every ship in every sauce, yes they generate malcontent in the rest of the playerbase, because a regular player won't ever be able to gain the same, with no access to exploits. And the regular grind to a top ship requires maybe a year of gameplay. Not something everyone is able or happy to do, cause it's seen as a second job.

Looking at the game from far away, I'd say it should be fixed completely in what it lacks or is doing wrong (PP, Open/Solo, board flipping, etc.) and all the accounts reset, to stimulate interest again and a fair interaction among all the players each other.
It just can't be ever balanced, in the future, without a general reset of players assets, after all the needed fixes.
It looks like FD kept building floors on top of broken foundation, and the more floors are built, the more fragile the building gets, leading to an imminent collapse or condemned building in which no one can or is happy to enter and stay.

Sorry for the long post... just my two cents.

Oh boy, this topic will be fun. I would be in favor of a 'fresh galaxy' with people being allowed to stay in the current one. But it wont happen for technical reasons, and a general reset on the 'main server' will have people string up David...

I only have 6 ships and mediocre engineering on them at best. I am extremely discontent with the current state of the game, especially pvp. For all purposes I am the type of player who your idea should appeal to.

And it has to be one of the worst ideas I have heard. OP you need to go sit in a corner and think what you have done.

I beg to differ, I've been playing since premium beta. I still haven't made a billion in credits, yes I'm multi billion in assets, but I don't feel any frustration towards players that have used exploits, why would I? It's their game, they chose to use the exploits and are now, potentially, flying around with no real goal. My goal is a billion in credits, I'm about 150 million away from that, but I'll get there when I get there. It's my game.

Also factor in that I stay away from the systems where 'griefing' occurs. Sure I'll run into one from time to time, but ED, like life, is littered with criminals. Cut throat galaxy remember ;)

Further to that, a few people jumping up and down and shouting and complaining the loudest, doesn't make them the majority.

Yeah. I dunno if the way to address the number one complaint - that everything is too grindy - is to take the nerf hammer to everything, and make everyone start the grind all over again.

If you're referring to the most recent passenger mission nerf, that wasn't an exploit. Frontier had stated after the nerf previous to this one that the payouts were working as intended.

After some carebeae complaints and frontier's seeming desire to shoot themselves in the foot at least once a quarter, it got nerfed again..
I don't think the problem is the playerbase at all, methinks that frontier is fast tracking the the wrong feedback and ignoring good feedback. Probably because the majority of the feedback is from players that don't pvp, dont wing up, don't join a subcommunity, and play strictly in solo.

I dont get why newbies play in open when they got griefed. Aside from wing gameplay and blow up other player ships there is nothing you can do with other players.
Personally i only play solo or private.

Reset accounts ? seriously ? 3 years work and 1800 hours of playtime ?

Man no wonder ppl grief you, i would do the same if i met you and you come with this.

Yeah, those stupid lone pilots in their cobras out in the galaxy, that is not what Elite is all about! PvP or shut up!

Uhhh, no. I am a "multi billionaire" and I have never done the exploits. Well, I admit to recently doing a bit'o the Palin missions, but heck, I already have plenty of credits and am thousands of hours in game. It is the only game I play. Franky, I only own 7 ships (the big 3 plus several small/medium ships) and might be buying a new Chieftain here soon. So somehow you think is is okay to take what I have worked for? Marx would love you.

I reset my own account back in June 2016. I have a strong feeling I will do the same in December 2018. Usually I reset every time the game has changed sufficiently to justify me approaching it from a fresh start. Plus, I suspect my reset saved me a lot of grief during the "Great AI War" of mid-2016.

People can have as many ships as they want but they can only fly one at a time.

Yeah, thats cool if it suits you. There are several posters here that either reset from time to time or play "Ironman". Good on all of you. A challenging way to play. I have been thinking about a second account just to start it over. Too much invested in this account, I just can't press that button, and I sure don't want it pushed for me.

I didn't call anyone stupid.
Im suggesting that frontier is taking feedback that affects open play from people that are anti-pvp, and progression tips from people that ENJOY abysmally slow progression.
Im saying frontier is only taking in feedback from players that are both vocal, a minority, and have adverse opinions on pvp and fast(er) progression.

Why is it that c+p isn't balanced with a bounty system that makes bounty hunts worthwhile, and why is progression such a bad thing when the credit grind bars people from flying what they want behind thousands of hours of trading at 4.5-6k profit/ton or hours of board hopping?

Some people dream of a fully engineer'd combat vessel, and that's a lonnnnng journey

I have a screen shot of my first billion in credits...feels great. Most of my worth is in assets, but I do have 2+ b in credits on hand now. Almost 1b tied up in 1 ship (Cutter, go figure).
