About the Adder...

I don't think I have ever seen another player in one. I tried it pre engineers, waaaay back when I couldn't afford a Viper but my Eagle was becoming a tad weak. I hated it, the inside looks like a g bus.

(Edit: Really. Frigging. That's a bad word. Seriously.)

With that said, it does come in racing purple.

It's a great material collector, runabout, or courier, plus it's fun to fly. Maybe also, a rare/rareCG trader?

This is one of the ships I am most looking forward to putting under the wrench when the Engineering changes go live. I've had an Adder on both accounts since the beginning, because nostalgia.

Both in Midnight Paint, of course.

With that kind of speed though you might want to look into the Buckyball Races.

Anyway, its a cool little 'happy-go-lucky-spaceshuttle-spaceballs-van'.

Got you both covered! [big grin]

Can confirm that the Adder makes for a competent and surprisingly fun racer: turns and stops on a dime, and when turns and stops go wrong you can use the same dime to rebuy it. In the last year the BRC hosted several races with the Adder as the "same for all, regulation class", and in the right events my race-tuned Happy-Go-Bucky can easily wrestle for the top spots, even on its less-than-optimal current top boost of 585 m/s. Adding that to its 35+ ly jump range, and thanks to the stock Adder's exceptional SC agility, it grew on me more than I initially thought.

And then there's the unmistakable howling and whining whenever it stops/lands. I'll never get used to it probably. :D

Love the Adder.

Love how cozy it is, how light reflects all over the cockpit, love how it makes me feel like inside of a spaceship, not dangling in front of one.

Love how it brings out the feeling of a being a privateer trying to make a life for himself in the galaxy.

The Adder has such a middle-class everyman ship feel to it. I like how it looks like it's built for comfort as well as function, right down to the coffee mug right by your right hand. In my headcannon, the mug holder has a built in pressure sensitive heating coil to keep the coffee warm.

I use mine as an Explorer. 34 LY jump range is more than enough, I have to skip out on FMU, but I don't tend to like to go all that far out anyway so that's cool.

The Adder has such a middle-class everyman ship feel to it. ...

Middle-class!? It's the last ship to still be under 100 grand - cheap as chips! Surely middle-class does not start till the dizzying heights of the DBX, Cobra or AspX?

I love it! And with it's hidden speed, there is much to be said for painting it white and becoming White Van Man.

I love my Adder. Fast, nimble and able to outrun anything ingame while carrying a reasonable amount of cargo.

Why does your avatar remind me of Lord Roose Bolton from Game of Thrones XD

I think the Adder is one of the most underrated ships in game. I'm playing since the standard BETA, own four accounts - and in each one, I own at least two Adders (one always being a mission runner, the other one a special build, e.g. for CZ, exploration, mining or other things). MY biggest ship is an Anaconda (of course fully A-rated), but it slowly rusts away in the hangar, while the Adders are used quite often for all types of things.

It's actually - besides the Cobra MK III (and the - evenly underrated - Cobra MK IV) - the ship I love most in game. And as I wrote, I have flown everything from a simple sidey up to an Anaconda (and actually have no interest in anything bigger at all - well, maybe a T-9 or T-10 at one point in time, we'll see).

That's the "Beag Ialtag", my exploration Adder in my third account. The screenshot is from the "Small Worlds II" expedition I joined with her.

I use mine for science! Get about 640ms boost with 37ly jump range, srv, scoop and all scanners
Great for surface exploration
i've escaped many unsuspecting griefers with this ship, they never catch me!
Well apart from the cutter with long range rail guns i once met! :D

Possibly my favourite ship in the game. It's a great little runabout for mineral collection, wake scanning and so on. With enhanced thrusters it's pretty nippy and handles well.

My alt account adder took me to Pioneer, and I'll be taking it on DW2 rather than my Dolphin or Asp.

Adder, the little ship that can :)

I've always loved the look of the ship but hated the view. I bought one and sold it soon after to stay in the Eagle... Just couldn't give up the view for more space.

I almost bought an Adder when I got to Colonia, just so I could get out of my Cutter for a little while, but changed my mind at the last minute.

I like the Adder. Paint it yellow and it looks like the Magic Schoolbus. I’ve never had one, but I’ll probably buy one when I get home from the core.
