All Drabbles submitted up to Friday Afternoon will have a good chance of being read out on the live Drabble readiing show.
This is meant to attract more submissions? Oh boy, are they in for a shock

I'm going to use a tactic by Simoff and take a bad pun off the table so that people won't use it.
How many ears do each of the Frontier staff have? Three. Their right ears, their left ears, and their engineers.
There's also a terrible pun for anyone wanting to buy a new engine...
"I need a new engine do you have any?"
"Why yes my good man, I have this Engine 'ere"
I thank you
. . .so much so that any of his work is grounds to invalidate life insurance.
Hi guys - it's been a very long time since I was here. I think I may have won one of these at some point, the story was about eyeball eating space spiders, I vaguely recall...
Anyway, since I just wrote my Drabble that I backed for Selezen's Elite Encounters, it seems to have got me back in the mood for Elite based drabbles. So I thought I'd offer this one up for your consideration:
***
He’d always craved a complete lack of human contact and here, at the furthest reaches of civilisation, he’d achieved his dream. Jobs arrived electronically. Fully auditable, no wiggle room compared to the nuances of verbal communication. As he worked on the probe’s type four plasma pump he pondered the last time he’d heard a human voice, even his own…
Years…
He reached for his favourite #6 torque wrench, the one with the dodgy maglock, and turned to look for it when his fingers failed to find it. It hit him squarely between the eyes and he was silent no longer.

Was that a follow on from something in The Thargoid and Fer-De-Lance?
Welcome back to the contest DaddyHoggy. I just bought my copy of "Synthesis" and I'm looking forward to reading it. I just love anthologies.
Title:- Where on earth is the engineer gone?
Not sure what you mean - the spider eyeball eating story, or the one I've just written?
Actually - neither I think - since like I said, it might be as long as a year or more since I walked these hallowed corridors of drabbleness...![]()
I remember the spider eyeball eating story, that was quite vivid, and mention of spiders jogged this nugget lodged in my cerebrum https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4577&page=301&p=1820187&viewfull=1#post1820187

Welcome to the Official Drabble competition for you Drabble enthusiasts!!!
Here we run a weekly competition for the best drabble from the community that meets the following rules.
1. Drabbles are stories of exactly 100 words (Excluding the title)
2. Drabbles need to be set in the Elite universe (loosely).
3. Drabbles must meet the theme set by the previous weeks winner.
4. The Drabble Topic will be set on a Monday by the previous weeks winner, should no topic be set by Monday, then Tuesday the topic will be declared OPEN and anything goes (See rule 2)
5. Only the first 20 entries per week can be put into the draw.
6. You may write more than one drabble, but must specify which one is your entry. If you don't then the most recent Drabble will be put forward.
7. Anyone submitting drabbles after the 20 slots are filled will not be part of the vote, but will be able to share their amazing skills (and may get them read out).
8. Vote closes Sunday and the winner is declared. In the event of a tie, all winners can set a theme for the following week, entrants may choose to use one or all of the themes in their drabbles.
9. This is for fun - please be respectful and try to keep it clean.
10. Thou shalt not submit someone else's as your own
VOTING RULEs.
Everyone can vote 3 times in the poll.
You can not vote for yourself.
Have fun with creating your mini masterpieces.
The next post has the list of the drabble topics covered so far.
So submit your drabbles in reply to this thread, and the first 20 will be guaranteed entry into this weeks poll, and read out on our live Show Friday night.
Entries close at Random O'clock on Thursday evening (or sometimes earlier if we have 20 entries already). Late drabbles submitted up to Friday Afternoon will likely have a good chance of being read out on the live drabble readiing show for fun.
