Thanks for the reading P, particularly enjoyed the dramatic 'What have you done to me!!!!'

Apologies for the crap word count, have adjusted.

To make up the words I was originally going to add at the bottom of the drabble (but humour would probably ruin it):

The midwife looked closely... 'It's definitely got its father's looks'.

New wordage:

'Keep breathing Mary...'

The doctor and midwife knew it was hopeless with her catastrophic internal bleeding. They tried to spur her on, but she had nothing left to give.

'What have you done to me...' she cried as her body fell limp, exhausted and lifeless. With tears in his eyes, the doctor picked up his scalpel and drew a neat line down her abdomen. First the oval head appeared, then two, four and finally six legs. At last the incubation of a Tharglet could lead to a greater understanding, and potentially the destruction, of the greatest threat to man's existence.

I'm liking the audio element, good work Psykokow.
Sounds effects would be a great addition but as you pointed out, it is more work.

In case you are interested, have you come across: Freesound.org?

now Kalryper when I said more work, I meant that from a point of experience.. lol Freesound has served me well (listen to the dockers podcast)

Also seeing as I started the recording process at 9pm last night and had it up by 11pm It meant I did not have time to do anything with it..

Where as I did one for Ian Phillips a while back..
Can't remember if I added sounds or not..

I can do it, I'm not sure it would be fair to use sound effects as that may sway somewhat the voting?

But I am here to serve... if the masses want sprinkling of sounds.. I will sprinkle... Also musical backgrounds can be adapted to fit the drabble.. but that also is more work to match it up.

So I don't really know what is fair to expect or do for a weekly thing..

Dockers can eat my week up editing.. SO I'm not sure how to share the load of this..

anyone else comfortable recording? If we create a podcast I will happily show you how to 'release' your episode (IT IS EASY)..

Just need people willing to record the drabbles and upload the mp3.

to share the load?

If it doesn't add enough to justify the effort thats fine Too :D

I would be happy to record the drabbles (and send you the file for publishing?).

Sound effects and/or music aren't really needed imo as the drabbles should stand on their own for the voting. Having them read out to listen to is enough extra service

Not really sure when I could have them ready though, as most Thursdays I am out for a large part of the evening taxiing my daughter around. So they would probably be ready later in the evening or Friday evening....

THE WINNERS i am proud to announce are FRANK & GT Who both get to pick a topic for this weeks competition!!!

Well guys... what cha having?

Thanks to all those who voted for me.

That was a great Drabble G.T I was well-chuffed to tie with it.
Congrats Frank, and thanks again Psykokow for doing the readings so well and to all those kind enough to vote for me.

My part of the topic will be 'Secret'

You are going to have to tell us eventually ;)

Webs we weave

I must run! Danger! Run! Left, right, 1, 5, 2, 6, 3, 7, 4, 8… Blown from the airco, I’ve landed on a soft, pink landscape with stubbly spikes. Danger! A pink cliff lowers in front of me! Climb!

I reach the top. Which way?

The cliff moves, lifting into the air. It comes down by some greenery. Can I reach it? Run!

Under the greenery. Safe? Tuck myself into a secret hiding place. Pull my legs in, keep still.

Dar’koba smiled as the spider hid under the leaf. “Spiders are our friends. We should take good care of them.”

Secret Race

Marquis Stryder was summoned to the Capitol for his final interview at the end of a long and distinguished career as a truly elite Imperial pilot.

The debriefing officer twirled his moustache. 'Stryder, how would you feel about fighting Federal scum for another 35 years?'

'... I don't understand Sir...'

'We can't afford not to have pilots of your calibre. You've earned your retirement, but you'll continue to fight.'

Twelve masked men entered in the livery of the Imperial guard, and showed their faces. His face.

'Fresh from our new clone factory. Our master race, for the glory of the Empire.'

Glorious War

"Admiral?"

The great tactician, Admiral Solomon looked around the war room at the sea of expectant eyes. "There are quite a few factors to consider. I am going to my office to ponder my decision."

As soon as the office door closed, his confident stride became a hurried trot. He made it to his toilet in time. The semi-solid contents of his bowels sputtered into the lavatory pan.

Solomon found these sorts of decisions easy to make. He cared about each and every life under his command and he knew how to minimise casualties. The difficult part were the consequences.

A guide

Plush offices with thick, sound damping carpets, real wood furniture and old world decorations created an atmosphere of quiet seriousness.

They were ushered into an office containing a desk with two chairs facing it.

Behind the desk was the lawyer, hands resting on the will.

They exchanged glances as they sat for the reading of the will.

Later they emerged holding a small box, decorated with expensive inlays showing an intricate pattern of circles and points.

Once home they produced the key and opened the box. The note read "The box is your guide to a succesful smugglers secret run."

Your own worst enemy

I was lost but I knew I had to run. But run from what?

A deep voice bellowed, “There is a no escape, no where to run to”.

I slipped, startled by the voice.

How had they found me?

A cold shadow fell over me like a shadowy sheet.

I spun and screamed as the abomination from my nightmares slithered forwards.

“Tell us your secret and we will save you”.

In the lab the Imperial scientist monitored the direct virtual reality feed into the body on the table.

“We’ll soon extract the secrets from this Federation agent” he muttered.

Not for the contest. More just to worry everyone a bit

David frantically typed away at the keyboard. Michael looked on nervously. "Try again! It can't be anything serious. It was working fine yesterday."

The display in front of him consisted of a single word in a round-cornered box, "RUNNING". Wide-eyed, David yelled out to the rest of the development team. "Here goes nothing!"

Two large flashing letters appeared on the screen "RUN FAILED"

Michael shrugged his shoulders and checked his watch. "So what do we do now? Shall we go onto the website and tell them?"

David shook his head no and put a finger up onto his lips, "Shh!"
