Adding to the ships as you add to the game

With the addition of added content to the game included in the latest update, and with that content came new tools to place on our ships, it stands to reason that some things on the ships need to be upgraded as well. With the Thargoid content came the Xeno scanner and Shutdown Field Neutralizer. The new update brought the new mining tools and with that came the Pulse Wave Scanner. But since the beginning of the game all of the ships in game have never received a update on the number of utility slots available. The makers of the Fer-D-Lance and Mamba figured out how to put 6 utility slots on a medium ship, but no other medium ship builder seems to be able to figure this out. If your going to add new tools to the game that require these slots and then not upgrade the ships to have extra slots to put them, then it seems like the time and effort that was placed to program them into the new updates was just wasted time.

This really shows up in Thargoid combat. When you engineer your ship to be Anti-Xeno and then have to choose whether you want the Xeno scanner and the Shutdown Field Neutralizer or two more shield booster to give you more chance to survive the fight. The shield boosters win every time. So to me it makes more sense to program things into updates that can be used and have a place to be used. We have had Thargoid content in the game for over a year now and with the added content in the latest update the new mining tools. It stands to reason at this point that there should follow an update to the ships to offer more utility slots to place and use these new tools.

Thank you for your consideration.

Thargoid damage is special damage and bypasses shields. Equip the xeno and shutdown field neutralizer. And don't use a multi role ship like a python for thargoid fighting, use a combat ship.

They’ve updated a few ships along the way, most recently the SK ships removing the passenger cabin restrictions. The T9 was update at one point I think.

I also think you’re mistaken about utilities. You’d be better off keeping at least the neutralizer. I also find biweaves to be best for tharg hunting. I go for fast charge rather than tanking.

The best thing they could do for thargoid hunting is to remove the 4 weapon max. Or al least adjust it to 4 ax and 4 guardian (so 8 total). And huge ax weapons!

My issue with the shutdown field neutralizer is that it takes up a utility slot while being a completely passive module. That's always bugged me about shield boosters and cell banks too.

It would have made more sense to me to have the xeno scanner and shutdown neutralizer rolled into one optional module rather than a utility slot. Call it the Anti-xeno...suite or package or whatever name works for marketing. Given that you REALLY don't want to bring just one or the other to a 'goid fight, the fact that they're separate modules kind of makes me frown in the first place.

I only use Krait MkII, Cutter, or Corvette for Thargoid fighting. Thargoid damage is absolute damage and ignore resistances but all of it does not bypass shield. You can tell the difference when your shields go down.

Well say we go with the SDFN and 2 heatsinks so that we can stay cool and avoid a lot of the interceptors damage. On all the medium ships with the exception of the FDL and the Mamba that leaves only one utility slot open for a shield booster. That leaves a pretty weak Bi-weave shield balance when in a solo fight with a Hydra.

I run the Krait for AX. I find I don’t need heat sinks as it runs cool enough. So that leaves 2 shield boosters. Works well for me

And I understand the point your making. You also brought up a point about the weapon limitation of 4 ax weapons per ship. And someone can also make the point about that that does not need to be changed because someone has already taken down a Hydra in a shieldless build using only 3 Guardian weapons and a flak launcher. The flak launcher does not count.

The point of this forum thread is to offer suggestions and feature requests to Frontier. Now I know that everyone has an opinion on everything in the game. And for every point there is a counter point. And I get it that you are saying you don't want any changes to the ships in the form of extra utility slots being added because of the new tools and scanners. If that is the opinion of the community then it was only a suggestion.

but you have plenty of options.

Tried to use a beam laser turret with heat transfer on it? this will redirect heat from your ship to the Thargoid. that should now remove the need for atleast one heat sink.

And you have more shield options. guardian shield boost module, and shield cell banks.

So there is no hard truth on what is a must have thing or not. there plenty of viable options available, and you do no appear to have any of those, when you argument for what is wrong with the current game design.

We got an extra optional internal slot with the discovery scanner being built in now. That is if you were using a discovery scanner in the first place. Many of my ships were not outfitted with one because I don't need one for the role they are built for. I think two of my ships now have that "extra" optional internal slot available. I wouldn't mind paying to upgrade a hard point from small to medium though. My T6 could benefit from bigger hard points. Doubt that will ever happen.
