Affordable Carriers For All - Hammerhead Class

Because that carrier brings some very good QoL improvements (the personal cargo in particular) that affect various aspects of the game and how you play it. Having to sell your mining load straightaway instead of stocking it until later, same with pirated goods... These things shouldn't really be locked behind an asset whose price was designed on earning rates from the worst credit fountain period in the game - LTD overlap mining - which since got nerfed.

Alternatively a cheaper, smaller carrier would be just the ticket- aside from the fact I dumped a small fortune into FC cosmetics already in the past and wouldn't be able to use those.

Finally - just a reminder this is a game and not a job, and RL comparisons will never really work in Elite's favour anyways because balancing is so messed up already.
It's one of the best ballanced games in the market, people make assumptions and complain about what everyone else has to do to get theirs, so everyone wants the same services than a FC, can they afford them without having to "work" for it? Would you like to pay REAL money for your assets and their upgrades?

How many cutters costing 208,969,450 Cr each stock do you dock on a Fleet Carrier? 8 X 208,969,450 Cr = 1,671,755,600.

Proportionality is just one reason for the Fleet Carrier cost and I don't read anyone complaining about a stock Cutter's cost, then don't tell me that stocking your mining is gonna make you richer faster than not spending what your Cr into cosmetics, mine is stock and white...

Sure, this is not a job but it's no reason for some to call consistently for leveling it from the bottom because some players are too lazy to do what it take to get one, for your info, "It's not a job" goes for everyone esle, I spent hundred of hours transporting tourists to get mine, you don't read me whinning about it or the cost of Tritium.

That's one thing, now we read the same argumentation about what we have to do to get the material necessary for engineering, players will always complain and try to change the game instead of going through the same processes than everyone else, do you have any idea how many attempts it took me just to be able to get a Guardian Module Blueprint?

This game is already EASY to play, those challenges are not hard to face when one really wants to get what they want "it's not a job" is not an excuse, on the other hand I can understand that some players doesn't spend as many hours than other in this game, but it is still not a reason good enough to make it easier for them.

An Escort Class Carrier like the one proposed here would be a solution, like getting a Type 7 instead of a Type 9 because one can't afford it, I have no problem with that, what I have a problem with is the argumentation used to promote the idea.

How about this. TRANSIT CLASS literally a capital class FSD, 1 large pad,, a small bridge. 1500 ly jump range. The whole thing is only 700M long (drake class is about 3500M long. Used for taking your ship to the middle of nowhere and back. Only available services would be refuel, repair, restock. No shipyard, outfitting, or commodity market. About 4x more fuel efficient than a full size due to its mych lower mass. If taking 1 ship to colonia in 15 jumps seems appetizing use transit class!

Well, it's not.
Apparently FDev does not likes ship in ship setup.
So Carriers are stations. And they are persistent.
So having a small personal carrier does not fit the ship-in-ship setup while having a small normal carrier means the same impact for the infrastructure as a big carrier.

Well, if you cannot support it, then it only means that you dont need it 🤷‍♂️
But a rather basic carrier upkeep is around 11 millions. You can easily make 3 times in a single hour while not not pursuing high credit gain activities.
Or you can do 1 hour at Robigo and get 90 millions and be set for 8 weeks.
1h gaming > 8 weeks of upkeep...
Instagibbibg thargoids and u got 120M/ h EZ.

Makes sense if the existing carriers had continued to be squardon assets only.
There are far to many carriers already, there are never any slots to jump too..

Adding another cheaper class would compound the issue and make things worse
I think they could release a squadron only capital ships for combat purpose.
FC = small personal stations

An E rated Anaconda will give you 9.82 Ly, with a Max Jump range of 69.73 Ly, an increase of 610.081% +, over 22,095.64 Ly between Wolf 363 to Colonia.

Following the same logic, if we could upgrade and engineer our F.C we could get 3,500 Ly+ of them, but of course while losing a lot of capabilities depending on the nature of the upgrade and level of engineering.

So Escort Carriers are really only a matter of cost, I'd do with carrying my actual 5 ships fleet over 1,500 + Ly with upgrade and engineering for exploration even with a FSD cooling time tripled and a reduced number of services (to keep load capabilities) for as long as I can reinstal them on arrival if I need them.
