AFK Capital ship camping for free money

I am still averaging around 1.5-2.5 Million an hour in My vulture with twin gimballed pulse lasers, chasing stuff round the capitol ship. wau much more fun than jumping into my type 7 or clipper and trading, no where near as profitable as trading but much more fun. The only advantage that the capitol ship brings me is sometimes it will start targetting the ship i am attacking and help a bit, alla combat zone really is is just a huge RES with a higher spawn rate with a much lower payout, a decent RES will payout more than any combat zone. Im in the top 15% of the lugh one now without afk/tanking it to me thats just as boring as trading. Trading is still the most profitable way to make money when you have enough cash for larger ships, but no where near as much fun.

I see, so you're whining like a broken motor because you believe that'll make them change it back to the objectively worse way it was before? It's a game, it's meant to be fun and clearly Frontier agree or they wouldn't have made that change. I get that you'd rather the game was an unfun, frustrating slog that punished the player constantly but here's a newsflash for you "Elite: Dangerous" is just a title and even if it wasn't "Dangerous" isn't a synonym for "Rubbish".

Got a newsflash for you, reverting it would be literally the laziest way possible for them to do it, they'd be much better just adding a threshold on it, is that really so hard to understand? Really don't know what that has to do with a slog or the games title though. However I am pretty much certain they will change it (as the I know why the current one was implemented), so cya when they do!

I will remind people that FD is aware of the case, as far as I know they don't consider current rules good enough to stay. At this point it is worth to mention that there's some logic in arguments that it's not complete AFK either, and it is still quite a risk to do that. Also I am ready to bet that there aren't that many people with so much spare money and Anacondas, who would be ready to violate spirit of the game in spite of faction war.

I think if they'd wanted to put a threshold on it, they'd have done that when they changed it. They didn't change it because "hurr durr, whiners amirite?" they changed it because there's no reason for NPCs to claim bounties or bonds - they want a "last hit wins" system between players but they realise that there's no reason to involve NPCs in that. It's a game, they deliberately picked the least frustrating option because losing kills to NPCs isn't fun.

No, NPCs don't have reason to claim bounties, however if they deliver kill, you have no reason to pretend it's you doing killing, not them. It's not so clear cut. FD has ben talking about shared bounties for combat zones for some time. Would like to hear some update about that.

Ok a few things, nobody who knows what they are doing has lost their ship, read the thread and understand the mechanics.

This thread was not about the battle being totally one sided, have you even read the title? Here it is for you "AFK Capital ship camping for free money"

I've not called you a cheater, thats entirely up to you to decide, but don't even get me started about the fact you can play both sides of the fight I didn't know that but i'll have to go whine some more now until they realise that too is extremely poor design.

Edit: and Morbads already posted a video doing it in a vulture, that doesn't cost 130mil.

If you go afk long enough you will eventually lose your ship. Might not be the first hour or the second, but it will happen. I just tried it again in my vulture, without hiding (which cuts into what you can hit/earn, but also keeps you alive longer because fewer can hit you) and lasted about 2 hours (which was only about 1.8m in combat bonds) before I lost my shields and dropped to 40% hull and jumped outta there. So, it does take very little effort and you can go afk for varying amounts of time, but the hourly earnings definitely reflect that.

I am not terribly concerned about the credits, because of how simple it would be for a new player to earn a whole heck of a lot more (assuming they had friends for a wing to go BH and after an hour or two go trading to make even more). I would like to see some changes done on the rankings though. Kill vs Assist, assist should be lower gains and for a kill you should have to do the majority of the damage to it (more than any one other thing).

Still you want to find more problems because players have a choice as to which side they want to play on, OMG......

Look at the end of the day it does not matter because it does not effect YOUR game play.

Please explain exactly how it effects you directly? What somebody can afford a bigger ship then you? they can get to elite faster than you?

Sorry to say but this thread is all about moaners moaning about something just for the sake of moaning.

If you really want to close loop holes in the game try getting FDev to ban the people who cheat in Open mode, then get them to delete accounts of people they have already kicked into solo for cheating. Once you have done that then come on the forum and complain about players playing the game.

Firstly I had no problem with them choosing a side - i have a problem with them choosing BOTH sides.

and why should I snotface, It doesn't effect my game your just moaning for the sake of moaning why do I care if they cheat in open, how does it affect your game if they fly an invincible godship with infinite credits?

Yeah maybe some people are going in a sidewinder firing a single shot at anacondas and claiming money that they didn't truly earn but honestly, who cares? As for the shared bounties, I believe the intent there is that they should be shared equally between everyone who shoots a ship because warzones are co-operative rather than giving you a share proportionate to the damage you dealt.

Firstly I had no problem with them choosing a side - i have a problem with them choosing BOTH sides.
What's wrong with that exactly?

This but unironically. Why are you so hung up on what other people are doing? If people are cheating/afking then let Frontier deal with them appropriately, otherwise just let them get on with whatever makes them happy.

Because myself and many others get enjoyment out of playing in a consistent universe, especially as its touted as a pseudo mmo/multiplayer game. If the rules are tight the game has meaning, if they are lapse its pointless. The easiest way I can describe it is this,

If I see someone with Elite exploration what do I think? Dedicated, I salute them, if i'm currently conducting piracy i'll even give them a pass. I'll never have that willpower and I think its great they took the time to do that.

Now what happens when I see someone with Elite combat? I think cheater/lamer I have absolutely no respect for them as a majority pull crap like this that not only makes the entire valuation completely pointless but also demeans anybody who actually worked hard to become Elite in combat in a genuine fashion (apologies anyone Elite in combat who did it the hard way here, /salute to you too)

That as a general effect reflects negatively on the game world, and reduces my enjoyment of it as it isn't as rich and detailed as it should be. Incidentally this also answers what is wrong with them choosing both sides, I'm hated by the federation and universally hostile to them everywhere because I get fined with cargo, yet people apparently blow up hundreds of their ships in a warzone and nobody cares. That is extremely inconsistent again it demeans the experience.

Ok, I'm sorry to have to say this but I genuinely hope this game continues to disappoint you. I'd much rather the game was consistently fun to play rather than a super realistic grind where you know everybody has "earned" things - if you think earning things is so important, I think you have "games" and "jobs" confused.

So you never partake in a recreational activity without a purpose? No sports? Motor racing? Chess? Poker? Anything other than watching TV? I'm really not sure i'm the one with games and jobs confused here.

This is a video game, primarily a childs pastime, nothing serious - it barely even passes as a 'recreational activity'.
I fight for both sides, my ranking has shot up and it makes me smile, it brings me joy, it is after all just a silly hobby, who cares about a 'consistent universe'? Mine IS consistent, YOURS is probably consistent, and guess what?
Yours has nothing to do with me, and mine has nothing to do with you.

I feel like we are fundamental opposites, I played this because its multiplayer whereas I feel like you guys didn't :p maybe thats all there is to it.

I play in a group of hundreds, our own group, our forums are buzzing with Wings etc, so no, you are wrong, more wrong than you could ever imagine.

so you play a multiplayer game, where you care exactly not at all for anything anybody else is doing? .... Interesting

Have some rep.

This AFK kill farming makes elite combat status completely null and void, that is pretty terrible considering it's the name of the game (in fact the name of the series).

How does it affect your game in general?
To be fair though, I think if Combat Zones didn't contribute to your rank that would be fine, it doesn't matter either way to me because it doesn't matter at all
