AFK Capital ship camping for free money

I specifically said I don't care what you are doing, please try to read things a little better in future, thanks.

No you said yours is consistent and mine is probably consistent, I think its pretty audacious to tell me to read a bit better tbh, as at no point did you say you didn't care what I was doing, only that our relative consistencies are apparently different, despite being stored in the same game on the same server. If i took several thousand cheaters and flipped lugh much to everyone surprise that affects your game. Just because you have the possibility to closet yourself with a set of players doesn't make your experience seperate to mine, they both have implications on each other.

Tbh this is completely off topic and i'm not interested in the arcade vs realism debate though I would add that many people including myself took the bait that this was a game that leaned towards taking itself seriously rather than more arcade, as there's already plenty of arcade out there.

I don't do semantic arguments, sorry.

How can you think this is not an arcade game though? I mean, it's a shooty space game with a bit of tomato lugging thrown in lol

Now? I can't sadly :/ Its moved increasingly towards that and it has become as you say, a space shooty game with some tomato lugging :p

You can sit AFK at the Lugh capital ship and rack up 15 million+ in a couple hours. I wouldn't mind if there wasn't a community goal opposing the federation but right now there is literally no way the crimson state will win.

Is this sort of behavior intended? Is it Frontier's way of railroading the storyline?

Just use your immagination.

Yeah it has changed a lot, for some it's for the better, for others I agree, for the worse.
This is the danger of Kickstarter imo, once a product launches it's 'see ya later, thanks for the cash!'

It's still a win for everyone. CSG sympathizers get 10 million+ credits for the community goal, just like the Federatoin players.
Look, it's either UNFAAAAAIR! or it's 'WoW in space everyone is a winner where is the hardcore 84 crew?'
You can't win, that's the sweet, sweet irony.

How does it affect your game in general?
To be fair though, I think if Combat Zones didn't contribute to your rank that would be fine, it doesn't matter either way to me because it doesn't matter at all

As Derath said a few posts back, you see someone with elite combat status you might have thought, 'fair play commander, you put some time and effort into that, you probably know what you're doing', as it is I'd more likely think 'meh you probably spent a few days farming a cap ship while watching TV'.

It won't stop me enjoying my combat or gameplay with friends but it has rendered the only in-game achievement I was interested in completing totally meaningless.

Yeah but does it matter?
If I see a high ranking anyone at anything I don't think about it at all, everyone will be Elite at everything one day just by virtue of playing the game.

If I see a guy in an Anaconda my first thought is 'there is a guy in an Anaconda' - nothing more, nothing less.

The MMO mindset is creeping in here I think.

I think the argument is it should matter, but it doesn't

Just paid a visit to the capital ship conflict zone in my Vulture. A lot easier than fighting at other zones ( i normally fight in the convoy beacon close to hartsfield market as it makes it easy to drop off combat bonds). That by itself is fine, but it seems crazy that the CSG ships would want to stay and attack the ship, it seems like complete suicide runs and i don´t see anything is anything they need to defend there.

Perhaps they should adjust combat bonds based on %dmg done to target, or even better adjust it based on how important it is for the side you are fighting on, ie if you fight in a battle where everybody is on your side, then the pay is low, if you are fighting with the losing side the pay is better (as in they are desperate for help).

It should matter in as much as anything to a with a game or a sport matters.

Not sure what the MMO mindset is, never having played one, more of an FPS player myself.

I'd suggest that the single one thing that does matter in video games is 'are you having fun'

Nothing else does, however if pointless (to me) titles and trinkets bring you that joy then more power to you I guess.

So what, you think Elite rating should be awarded in a way that means you don't just get it eventually? How would that even work?

Could lose rating by losing fights or fleeing from them or doing poorly vs one that is below your rating.

I think if they figure out the AI a bit more, the difference in AI rankings should be more apparent. As it is now, I don't really even look at their rankings, cuz they all pretty much act the same.

Of course, that may be too "deep" for this game I don't know...

Figure you could do the same with trading, you lose your haul (from pirates or bad piloting, etc. ) your ranking could go down.
