I am not sure if you are aware that there are other ways to score expansion kills that give you 3x amount of merits per kill and also are easier because ships are not engineered.

Indeed, but in a PP CZ you will have an endless amount of targets to kill, a process that can be automated
Killing PP ships outside of PP CZ will not be as productive and it will probably be impossible to automate.
