after patch tritium

Maybe Tritium in Colonia works like the engineers did - starts of with only low rank (Tritium availability) but then as players used the engineers (sell mined Tritium) the ranks (Tritium availability) increased.

FDev almost certainly didn't do this, but they definitely should have.

For folks who care about the mining side of the update, I spent one and a half hours in a decent double tritium hotspot casually mining, and came away with 175 tons. I'm pretty sure I could get close to 200 ton an hour in this hotspot if I pushed it. I hope it helps.

I mean, Colonia's kind of an exception, isn't it? It's fine in the Bubble.

The problem with players mining Tritium is that....why should they bother? Always faster to make money selling other stuff. Tritium just needs to be mineable quite a bit faster, problem solved.
I'm not talking about Tritium mining - I was about 7k LY out and just about had enough Tritium with me to make the trip back to the bubble. I did try to mine it, and it was a chore. It was possible to do it, sure, but mining SSDs for hours is not my idea of fun. I'm hopeful though that this patch addressed that now.

The problem with fuel supplies in Colonia is different - basically it's a fuel drought in a second, smaller bubble. So whoever has their FC stationed there is pretty much screwed if they want to get anywhere further away (like, the bubble for example).

That it's an "exception" in Colonia doesn't really help those who are stuck out there. I luckily only have my alt account based there permanently, which doesn't own a FC - if it did I would have to consider decommission it (which takes at least a week I believe) and buy a new one back in the bubble - not to mention having to clear out any stock first you might not want to sell right now (I've got lots of commodities in store to be used for missions etc.). It's not great from a gameplay point of view that's for sure, and right now we don't have the faintest whether FD even see this as an issue or not. I simply think they misjudged the number of FCs and their fuel demands (for spending the fuel, or trading it, doesn't necessarily matter).

The biggest problem is that it's far faster to mine painite and sell it to buy Tritium than to actually mine Tritium yourself.

That is exactly how I plan on refuelling the carrier again when the time comes. However according to some players there is no Tritium at all available for sale in the Colonia area.

Indeed, this is what I am seeing. A few weeks ago I carefully planned an extended long range journey to Colonia with my fleet carrier, my first since the Beta. When I started my journey to Colonia with my carrier, these numbers were in the thousands. At some point during my travels they nerfed the supplies to oblivion. It wasnt until I was well beyond the point of no return did I catch wind that something was off at Colonia.

Had I known FDev would play a game of "bait and switch" mid route there, I would have never brought my Carrier. This is the part that annoys me.

It's not the price that concerns me, it's the availability.
Apparently if you plan you will be fine... Sorry joking aside it really is a mess, I've not heard anyone say the patch has made mining viable for fueling a carrier. Thing is nobody bother mining fuel beacause of the abundant supply. Right now colonia is no different to being in the black - Can't buy it and it's not practical to mine it (Time V's Reward)

Right now the only thing that will fix this short term is to stop carriers consuming fuel until a proper solution can be developed

No need to. I did the research and found that Tritium supplies in Colonia were plentiful. It was more fuel efficient to buy the Tritium for the return trip at Colonia instead of packing to the gills my fleet carrier with Tritium. Then the patch happend...

If only FD used the building blocks in game:

So if I really push myself and mine like a pro, I could mine enough for a jump after an hour if I have managed to stumble into a system with the double tritium hotspot. Praise be !
Really it's 2 hours though because if my next jump does not have a double tritium hotspot im fubared. Luckly most systems have double tritiums spots right?

Maybe ask some of your squad mates to help share the load and mine with you? It would go a lot faster man and I bet you could make it back home pretty fast.

There's no fix coming buddy.

Tritium using the actual supply and demand system they use (which is pretty pants) is the intended functionality.

There are not supposed to be places with infinite 4k priced tritium as there was for a while.
The fix is done.

Their system is in place, but like most developers that react instead of innovate, the over-abundance of FC's in the game created a cascade effect that is trickling down to fuel.

Congrats Fdev, you've successfully, partially recreated the US gas crisis of 2008. The only difference is that IRL, there was still gas to be pumped still. It was just expensive. :)

Just done a couple of hours Mining (laser) in a Tritium hotspot.........seems much improved & quite readily available in the 'Roids where I dropped. Best yield I've got for a while considering my INEFFICIENT Mining technique I seem to use;).
At the rate that I'v Mined it won't be long b4 the 1000T/hr guys come along:ROFLMAO:

So it's fixed? Cool.
But I've much better things to do than mining.
Good luck to all those who do however..perhaps fdev have tweaked the pirate AI too...so be on your guard.
Seriously I hope it's fixed and we can all get about our business. Explorers will no doubt feel a reprieve.

Osmium is the shizzle for me right now

When Fleet Carriers were introduced to the game, and everybody bought them along with their cosmetics, you could buy 25k of fuel in multiple stations all over the bubble for 100 mil, and travel wherever, only supplementing fuel by mining if you went very far.

This was the case for a while, until the 3rd patch came. I hope the 4th patch restores that (as Frontier has said: they want tritium availability to be like before), and we don't end up having to mine 100 hours or spend 1 billion for a full tank.

I guess we'll know in a few days..

There is an interactive map that exists where all double / triple / more Tritium hotspots are listed. It's how I've been getting around in my Fleet Carrier since they were introduced.

Here's the link: https://script.google.com/macros/s/AKfycbx6cEi2RRVZum98jZinXqzyK74RrHPVF71Qlmg8HEE1Z6e-4FLw/exec

I haven't been able to load the patch yet but I'm sitting right at a double overlap so I'll know very soon if the patch has reverted the spot to what it was previously.

The Tritium issue is just the latest screwup from Fdev -
I'm not impressed over the last 2 years or so about all the unchecked bugs, ignored requests, or intentional unsavoury parameters that do not address the actual complaints players are concerned about -
For these and many other reasons I have taken a hiatus from Elite: Dangerous until someone sensible has taken control of the Management/Development issues that have rendered this excellent game unplayable for so many -
I'll keep checking the forums for updates on the improvement of the sometimes years-long unresolved player concerns -
Currently, I'm out in the middle of nowhere not wanting to triple my time mining for Tritium from the previously considered "normal" amounts that could have been gathered -
If I lose the Carrier due to no actual player-related fault but the ineptitude of the current management, that will be a game-ender for me -
There are plenty of other games of this genre out there that are more than happy to take care of the subscriber base by knowing that paying attention to what is needed is the way to keeping the business' doors open -
An unhappy player will not continue to support any game -
