Agghhhh. Update won't update

I'm very frustrated. [mad][mad][mad][mad][mad]

1) Why can't FDev have a consistent file installation policy? I've had to try and install the game several times to get the damn thing to update and every time I try it it seems to put the installation into a different location, meaning I need to hunt around for the files so I can delete them when the install stops and won't restart otherwise it leaves the game unable to play or update.
2) Game always stops at 1/3 download and nothing I try will get it to move beyond this. Despite trying to delete/reinstall (see 1) it still refuses to go any further. Creating a ticket is a pain as I need to hunt down the log files which could be in any number of locations (see 1).

What's the best way to install this so the game files are all in one place? I have a SSD for OS which I can use, or a dedicated HDD for games.
Any help on knowing how to fix the stalled install? I've disabled AV and some other stuff (MWBytes), restarted, reinstalled, changed directory all to no avail.

get the game from steam is better you can transfer it to steam for free but forgot how

Go to Options in the Launcher and turn off - Enable Virtual Cache. If you hover the mouse over the Options it give explanation text of what they do.

This fixed my stalled install. Must have had a corrupt local file.

I got frustrated with the installing too, so got it on Steam, problem solved.
