Well this was a waste of time, having never fitted a docking computer i thought i'd give it a whirl what with a cargo full of cutter gold its always a PITA to dock, everything else goes through the slot at 500m/s and never touches the sides.

turns out the only situation you might want a ADC on a large lethargic barge ship and its a bag of horse droppings, and cant even take off without damaging the ship let alone land!

I have no problems so far. I'm very happy with the Advanced Docking Computer. It did bounce me off the side of the station once but other than that it's working great.

When they demoed the new modules fdev were clear that they are docking assist aids - the commander is still responsible for the ship and should be ready to step in.

But well done for getting it to fail - been working well for me (when I bother fitting it)

So you have never used a docking computer before?

So to try it out, you fit it to the most expensive ship in the game, in a rotating orbital station, remove shields and launch when other ships are also flying around.

trying smaller steps....

For the record, I wouldn't recommend a learner driver starting to drive in a Lamboughini either.

You blame the forum for the poor quality of the gif "due to a forum glitch" and "the only gif outlet which works is via the potato filter". You hosted the gifs on Giphy, we can see that by simply clicking on the gifs, that takes us to Giphy. And when viewed on Giphy, in full-screen, the quality is terrible, which means you recorded it and rendered it in a low resolution, suitable for a small gif format, which also compresses the video making it suitable for uploading.

Nothing to do with the forum.

I thought it is well known that DC is slamming the ship to the dock and it's obvious that it is programmed for ships with shields.
Granted, they could put an option in the Flight Assist section of the Ship Panel <<Slow Docking (recommended for shieldless ships)>> but then someone will moan that it takes forever to dock.

They already nerfed the Docker some moons ago. Before that, it used to land military style and was even more useful than today. The only drawback of the Advanced Docker is its horrible power consumption, but otherwise, it never failed me, not even on the smallest ships (ok, the Sidey doesn't have one).

ADC has worked flawlessly so far on my T-9. ... just kick back and play with the camera while it floats like a butterfly through the slot and effortlessy (no effort for me) glides in to a perfect landing on the assigned pad. And my T-9 has no shields.

One wonders, OP, is it possible that your ADC has suffered some damage that you've not repaired? If so that could be the source of your problem.
