Trending: some excellent ideas for new styles of ED gameplay

Also a quick administrative note. I've optimised all the URLs featured in post #1 (and I may well do the same to post #2), thereby shaving an incredible 18000+ characters off the length of the post. Everything seems to be fine after the change but let me know if you spot any broken links.

Alec, there is a link near the top just under the banner that says "(continued from post #1)"...it takes you to post #2 (which BTW is great, I always go straight to the Trending section)...guess it just needs re-wording is all :)

The "Continued from post #1" link is taking me to post #1 as expected. When I was looking on mobile the other day I had some weirdness with these links, reminded me of the old Canonn megathread but the problem went away and I haven't seen it again since. Maybe it's a browser cache thing?

Hmmm...I had assumed the intention was to take you to post #2 i.e. to make it easier to jump straight to the trending section. Cleared the cache in Chrome made no difference. This is the URL of the link: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...here)-thread?p=4997022&viewfull=1#post4997022 (it opens in a new tab BTW which is to be expected I guess). Any road up, not the end of the world :)

WOW - yeah, I'm seeing something different. I see "post #2" (which is the one with the main lists and not Trending) with that old signature banner image at the top and "continued from post #1". Clicking that link takes me to post #1 (which is the one with the Qohen Leth banner and the Trending section).

Weird.

That's how it works for me.

I preferred the trending post first but have now got used to clicking the link to the second post with trending section in.

The Trending post is first - i.e post #1 (or at least it is for me). Don't know why some of you seem to be seeing something different. Ho hum.

Well ... there's loads of beta stuff happening, more than I can keep up with to be honest. Not sure I'll try. Bit overwhelmed by it all to be honest. Go and watch Obsidian Ant, he seems to be on top of it (sheesh, doesn't that guy ever sleep?).

Might be worth logging out of the forum as apparently it clears the cookies. And I know what you mean about the beta...I haven't even finished reading the patch notes yet!

Trending: a bunch of beta 3.0 spoiler threads for those who want to know what's happening, Cmdr Persera makes it back to Colonia and the "Medevac Memorial Challenge" Buckyball race is now well underway.

Added a new thread featuring terrific visulations of EDSM data to the "Misc' other useful and/or interesting links" section and fixed a broken link to Drew Wagar's lore primer (thanks to the Guard Frequency podcast for pointing that out).

Trending: 3.0 beta 2 is out and it brings with it some exciting tweaks to the new engineering changes.

Oh, and also a bug which means we can now boost our ships to over 2MM/s!!! [hotas] :eek:

Trending: after some unpleasantness it looks like good will triumph over evil for the Dove Enigma expedition.

Also some adminstrative news for this thread. Following the necessary splitting of the OP into two separate posts after the original exceded the forum character limit for a single post it seems some people are now seeing the first two posts the wrong way round (post #1 should contain Trending and post #2 should contain the various lists but some people are reporting seeing these reversed). It seems the only sure way to resolve this is to start a new thread. So, in the near future (probably later in the week) I'll be creating a brand new "Best of forum" thread. I'll reserve a bunch of initial posts for future expansion, get the new thread stickied, unsticky this one and then replace posts #1 and #2 with a redirect for those who still have links pointing here.
