They're covered quite a lot in Out Of The Darkness. Cerebral Implants. Pertinent quote:

"Implants were supposed to be secure, inaccessible from the outside"

(Just for clarity, the wording which implies that they might not be secure is due to a character worrying about whether theirs is truly secure, not due to them not actually being secure.)

Ah yes, vaguely remember the book. Must reread them all, after the next two Expanse books. But is there evidence that they exist in-game?

If not (or possibly even if so) then the question is why these two incidents- in Vega and in Azaleach. What is common to these two systems that would help explain this “telepathic contact”.

I can’t recall anything specifically about the cerebral implants in-game. So yeah, it’s definitely worth taking it with the usual pinch of salt.

Not sure the systems have any bearing though. The things would have to happen somewhere so there’s no guarantee that those systems didn’t just happen to be where, as opposed it being those systems for specific reasons. Still, on the other hand, there’s not much else to go off at this point... so as good an avenue as any to explore I guess! 🙂

I'm wondering if Generation Ship Thetis ran into a similar issue with the voices, but unlike current comms system filtering, they suffered catastrophic insanity due to the message they received. Could be related? There's no telling what system the ship was in when the '15 Light Years Ago' message was produced, as it is entirely possible the ship has been drifting for quite some time after the last log. Investigation of all systems reaching the 15 ly bubble shows only one candidate and there is practically nothing in that particular system which suggests the system they passed may be further back than presently indicated. Trying to trace the route from Sol to present location only increases the number of candidates along the route.

I thought the advent of wearable computers etc as mentioned in galnet and the Utopian (?) pursuit of a database of all knowledge was reminiscent of humanity potentially making the same mistake as the guardians did with their AI. FD making a moral point!

Maybe I expect too much from ED, but I assumed if there is a storyline here then we should be able to participate with it, not just watch it unfold before us. 🧐

ETA Carina is the second biggest nebula that we can see (In real world terms) also called heavens altar and many other heavenly things, home to the second brightest star we also can see from earth and many more of the biggest and brightest stars in scientific stars which goes along with the technicians dream book, this is why i went here, Iv just found 3 more sites and i know of 4 sites in the next nebula however still the same layout...for now. which then leads to a permit region towards dryman point, Iv been keep posting in here and getting ignored but if anyone wants to follow read back, I will post more after work tomorrow.

Not sure on the wearable computers stuff. We've already had the Human AI disaster, though we don't really know what happened there yet.

I think the storyline point's a difficult one. The population of the galaxy is huge, and by all rights there should be stuff going on that we just hear about in the news (equally as there's stuff we don't hear about in the news). Some of that might even be things done by other players. Though I very much take the point, and there should be some stuff that is for participation. With participation stuff, there does need to be some pre-amble and build up though, and ideally various stages to it all otherwise it's a bit of a 'did you just happen to be playing on the right day' situation. The Halsey stuff had a fair bit of build up, and the indications from what the Codex states would seem to be that there would have been a participation stage, but that what happened with the first ruin being found via the trailer effectively cut that stage of things out completely. Looking back, got to wonder whether it would have been better if it hadn't happened that way. Who knows! And it was still a great piece of work finding the site from the trailer regardless!

Though I think the moral point was already made in the Guardian logs - it just isn’t made completely explicitly, and the actual reasons for the AI turning on the Guardians (and how the civilian AI were able to persuade the military AI into action) isn’t really stated and takes a bit of putting together! 🙂

Mmm, I really must learn to express myself more clearly!
Yes, the moral point was made by the Guardian logs, but I think FD are setting humanity up to potentially make the same mistake, with the Utopians set to create a database of all knowledge and the advent of wearable computers (as if it wasn’t done in the 21st Century!) as the precursor to human implants. It’s like the CGs-they seem to present a moral vs expedient/profitable option for which side you back (though sometimes it doesn’t seem all that clear, like real life!).
