Alien archaeology and other mysteries: Breaking News, Theories and Tinfoil Hattery

It might correspond to the thargoid base map. We know (cant remember where from-Codex?) they engineer & absorb alien life into their technology, so it would be sensible for them to map where life is found.

Cant wait to see the next generation goids with Halsey faces...
It's likely that the Thargoids have based their ships on lifeforms that have evolved to live in the vacuum of space. That's seems to be the way they make their stuff.

I have a hypothesis, that the recent blight pathogen is in some way related to the Mycoid virus.
We know from the INRA logs that the Mycoid virus was created by an agricultural specialist who was trying to create disease resistant crops. This is what Rockforth Corporation’s EX7 was designed for as well.

We know that INRA also were sure to create a vaccine for Mycoid. As far as we know, that vaccine was never utilised and there doesn’t seem to be a clear reason why INRA would require a vaccine as there were no dealings with Thargoids that were not hostile.

The cure for the blight is called Agronomic Treatment. This was said to have been developed both the Vandermeer Corporation and Neomedical Industries. It was also reported that Neomedical industries suggested “radical methods” in looking for a blight cure. This may be a use for the Mycoid Vaccine.

I have a proposed experiment to test the hypothesis. Please let me know if this has been tried before.

I propose carrying EX7 and/or Agronomic Treatment in a ship to be scanned by a Thargoid interceptor, to see if there is any unusual reaction.

As we have discovered previously, Thargoid Interceptors react in a certain way if they scan our ships and discover we are holding Thargoid or Guardians related items. If there is something Mycoid related with the EX7 or Agronomic Treatment, it is reasonable to presume that there would be some kind of recognition from the Thargoids upon them seeing it.
I plan on testing this hypothesis out when I am able, but would appreciate any advice or information that I may have missed.

Cheers o7

Edit: I have also been thinking that it may be a good idea to test the rare commodity Soontill Relics, if this hasn’t been done before.

Probably worth cross posting this in one of the thargoid-related threads, e.g. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...ering-effort-we-need-your-help.381230/page-68

Think goid reaction to Soonthill relics might have been tested, but so long ago I can’t remember. One of the xeno hunters should know.

Mmm, so a research institute into alien lifeforms has been set up in Colonia. Seems rather along way out, why there?
Might be to accept explorers’ data, but might be part of the preparations for the fightback against the thargoid invasion and decimation of humanity (see Dynasty plot details) - sometime next year......

I looked into it and saw that it was part of a community goal reward from back in February if I remember correctly. Only just being added now into the game. Still not exactly sure on the reason for it needing to be built out there? I get the feeling it is progressing the narrative in some way.

Perhaps it's connected to the 'space molluscs' you can find on the way, between Colonia and The Bubble.

Maybe there's more to the molluscs. They do give off a cloud of spores or some such if you bump 'em.

Maybe I'm just trying to connect all the dots!

There’s an NSP in the Colonia system, with molluscs etc

Did you carry out this test?

There are a bunch of molluscs in close proximity to the colonia region, and the system itself has a fluctuating population of spaceborne fauna.I visited the new base just recently with a hold full of samples, which paid out the same as any other station, and they don't stock sample limpet controllers, which is surely an oversight. They are like gold-dust out here.I can't remember where i picked up the one i am using.
IIRC there was a science vessel parked above the planet for some while previously.I don't recall seeing it this time around.I'll check later, but i would think that is the most likely explanation.
As an aside,Sovereign's Reach stocks thargoid research tools, although none have been seen in the sector.

Give it time. The invasion will start...Soon(tm)
I’m guessing with next year’s major update!
And DJTruthsayer’s prediction shall come to pass....

Prediction?

Unfortunately lost in the FRift threads that were “archived”. But I think it was he who let slip that the FD long term plotline was for there to be a major thargoid invasion and they would push humanity out of the bubble (fits with the FD-originated entity of “The Club”). The game would then become a guerrilla warfare action to fight back and recover the bubble; Colonia is to be the last bastion of humanity. What we have seen to date has just been a series of minor skirmishes with the goids. That’s why it makes sense for the alien research centre to be sited out at Colonia, and the next major game update to be a first person shooter fighting goids on the ground (the “leaked” pic from the next update) as well as their ships in space.

I have performed the proposed experiment using Agronomic Treatment and there was no reaction from the interceptor when scanning my ship carrying the item or when scanning the item itself.

Thanks for the testing Bluwolve (y)

I thought all the FRift threads were still about? Certainly the last one is, as it became active again recently, actually, maybe I've seen you post there recently? ;)
An FPS game? Meh, not keen on that, this is a space game afterall :p, I'd rather have atmos landings 1st.
