This is what I mean by pixel hunt...

fRYr8tD.png

5-6k in the air, I can find at least six things in the above shot that look like features. Turns out they were either graphical glitches, or fancy dirt patterns which fade as you approach :/

I don't think that's the intended question. Does everyone else still have it?

Still have it myself.

This is probably just the expiry of the 4 week timer. Another CMDR posted earlier about this being what happens.

I'm pretty sure that was why the previous Rah Tam Galnet post mentioned the limited time window, so that people would turn in their data before they lost the reward.

I know what you mean. I tried testing my skills at searching by going to a known site area, in broad daylight, at about 4km altitude, about 10km (surface distance) from the site, pointing at the right direction and I still missed it. I am hopeless :D
I do know (from flying away from the site and looking back using the screeniecam) the sites are clearly visible and markedly different from natural formations - so it should be possible to see them from 5k up. What I find is that after about 10 minutes I start to see things that look artifical or not natural that aren't really there (my brain starts to make it's own patterns)

What's the range on spotting the tiniest hint of something from a distance? I thought it was only a couple of km max?

o7

I've done several fly-aways straight up at 90 degrees, and the black structures and obelisks dissapeared at about 8km. (looking using the screeniecam) no, I was flying backwards/reversing upwards.
EDIT: the structures and obelisks are still very straight and angular in appearance at this distance - they don't blur out, they dissappear when out of range.

At least it is a step in the right direction.

Time spent at the sites just makes me think of this...

Hahah,,, so there's hundreds of sites eh?

Props to FD for whipping up a decent piece of writing there in the context of us simply not getting it. That said, still feels like this is going to be a pixel hunt. It's been the biggest undoing of this activity.
meh, I postulated that a mere 200 pages ago:)

So ideally we'd get grabs of the three system then all concentrate on one - but I guess we'll just run in opposite directions as usual.

Anyway, to the ships! [up]

(And I can stop looking for the system locations being encoded in the ruins if there are 100's!)

You missed the most important part of the article imho:
"So far we've found three sites in each of the following systems: Synuefe LY-I b42-2, Synuefe NL-N c23-4 and Synuefe TP-F b44-0."

Those systems are new! And, that statement pretty much says that there should be three different sites in all systems, unless my reading comprehension is letting me down.

EDIT: Super Ninja'd!

Think the most important part of the article is a guardian bubble as big as the human bubble. And if the new set of systems makes a 'line' that points somewhere. May be able to get ahead of the hints and find a huge area of space with lots of sites.

"There are basically three different types of site, most of which have a different codex layout. Melville thinks that each type of site fulfilled a different function. He also thinks the Guardians were the dominant species in this region of space. But he's not content with this discovery. He wants to keep going.

I will now head off to the new systems, scan them, then get some screenshots in (and search for the best planets to add to the list).

Thanks for your work CMDR, you are awesome

Not that much to get excited about - as Melville points out - just like seeing another Coriolis station :)
