Now my train of thought is derailing but... What if Frontier put in a reference to the xenomorph world from Alien? What if we are looking for system A6 454?

I can confirm the existence of both sites 6 and 7. Been to both, collected 12 artifacts from the Hex one. Landed at the other site (I still don't see Elmo) to give my eyes a break from VR for an hour or so. Both sites are dotted with what looks like ice, but it looks really eerie.

Also, I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but there seem to be LOD issues with both sites. They don't seem to fully take shape until I'm only 50 or so meters from them in my Asp.

Weirdly, the "Elmo" one can be seen from at least 20 km away, without having to fly close for it to "spawn" first, as others have suggested. It's by far the easiest to spot from the air.

I'll start running combination tests on the obelisks in an hour or so, assuming I don't fall asleep.

Has there been enough data-mining going on (in Solo) at these two new sites to confirm that we now have Alpha-1, Alpha-2, Beta-1 and Beta-2?
That is, are the new data found in the sites discovered today following in sequence from the other two types that were known before, and together fill the "middle" third of the set?

Here's a spreadsheet showing off what all sites have in common (green marked).

Made this for everyone who's on the way to the systems that one of Mellvins scientists(?) posted on GalNet.

Enjoy.

HMCW = High Metal Content World
HMC = High Metal Core

RW = Rocky World
SMC = Small Metal Core

Trivia: Due to the fact that all planets are low gravity, it let's me come to the conclusion that the Guardians might have either A.) an exoskeleton or B.) a weak skeletal structure.

I visited the original site today and was able to spot it from over 20km altitude, never been able to do that before. I wonder if FD tweaked something.

The new beta site has some of the same data as the other beta sites and some new data from the same range (the middle third of the 101 pieces). Nothing we haven't previously got from open/PG. Combined beta-1 and beta-2 don't have the full 34 pieces available from that type of site, rather less than 20 distinct pieces I think. That'd suggest we need perhaps 3-5 other beta configurations to find the complete middle third in solo.

I haven't checked the new alpha site.

Ah, ok thanks for that. But if the new data follows in sequence, it's still a safe bet to call it Beta-2. That's all I needed, but as usual you are thorough :)

Just found a neutron star at HR 3326 so just posting it in case it's useful for anyone. 300kls out from the main star though so I suspect it's not going to be of much practical use.

Nice system though with a very nice looking blue/white main star and a shed load of dwarf stars, gas giants & moons

I failed to read the part about it being 300kls away and went to go have a look.

However, it did get me looking at nearby neutrons using the Elite Dangerous Neutron Router map, and found the Vela Pulsar, which is a neutron primary that may help with getting to/from the more distant ruins.

I'm out at the Col 173 "Beta" site, have been doing the ruins entirely in Solo mode. Several new obelisks lit up, compared to the previous Beta sites. I haven't been successful so far in unlocking any new data, and the groupings don't seem to match the maps for the earlier Beta sites. Has anyone had success getting new data in solo mode yet? Or a new spreadsheet to start capturing attempts?

Haven't seen a map yet of the new "Elmo" site in COL 173, so I don't know the letter/number names for each obelisk. I can confirm that in Mobius PVE, the obelisk closest to the pillar inside the main hole structure yields History 1 with an Urn and Casket. That combination failed on all other obelisks in the hole.

Just trying to short-cut some effort... is Culture 8 available from the Col 173 "Alpha" site?

So long as you're there in Open and have other commanders there getting the obelisks to change, it should be obtainable, but it would be the beta/hex site, not alpha. The obelisk used for culture 8 is H19, Totem + Totem.

Yeah, there's definitely new data in Solo mode here, or at least obelisks that weren't lit in earlier modes. In the Beta.2 site, Obelisk A2 (following the original Beta map) is lit, only A3 was lit in solo before. The A grouping seemed to be a Casket grouping, but no casket combinations worked... working through the rest of the combos to see if I can get it.

If you look at the image in MadDogMurdock's post below, the glyph at the very left of the image is the same as the one in the very middle. (Large triangle in the lower most position, two triangles in 'columns' 1, 3 & 4, and column 2 empty. The small triangles in 'column' 4 aren't very clear but they are there when you look closely).

Also possibly noteworthy is that both of these glyphs have been inscribed over the original symbols that were on those sections, and it the same original symbols under both of the glyphs. The original symbols are the ones which can be seen on the section just to the right of the very central section in the image in MadDogMurdock's post.

Thank you ! You're right commander, my theory broken :(

Using these maps for the Beta.1 sites: https://imgur.com/a/RVZBN#oNZareu

Beta.1 has A3, B6, C3, C13, C36, C38, D9, E1, F4, G17, G18, G19, G20, H26, H34 lit (15 lit, 13 data available).

Beta.2 (Col) has A2*, B2*, C13, C20*, C38, C45*, D*2, H14*, H34, plus 3 more in new groupings not found in Beta.1 (so, I only count 12 lit but certainly could have missed one). * these 6, plus presumably the 3 in new groupings seem to be new lit obelisks for this layout (in Solo).

I just headed over to the "Hex" side discovered by CMDR noodlez team and did a very first "draft" map with most of the info i could get yet for this map. Because of the bad light the map is very "draft". I hope i can get a better image tomorrow with better light.
And then i also will take screenshots for the detailed clustermaps.

See here:

(link to album will follow).

I will use same numbering as in the first site, so cluster H will begin with number 9!
Cluster E (orb) is moved, i choose the triangle next over cluster C and the new triangle at the very up becomes the new letter J (it's orb too).
So former great cluster G i "moved" to the bottom right.

I prefered to use same Clusternaming for Obelisks-Groups that are identically in the first ruins of this type beta (hex) and also alpha (elmo). And i think we need a new notation. So we called the first ruins discoverd, the Hex-Layout, as beta site. And the second layout discovered we use alpha site.

I think it would be good to use following notation:
All first discovered sites with floor print and same "codex"-layout (obelisks groups) we call beta.1
The discovered beta (Hex) layout by CMDR noodlz team would then be beta.2
The first two discovered sites with round or elmo layout we call alpha.1
The discovered round or elmo layout by CMDR noodlz team we call alpha.2

And if we will find more sites with same floor print but different "codex"-layout (obelisks groups) we call them apha.X or beta.X (X for next free number).

I hope this will be in the sense of the community.

BTW: great job from team "noodlz" [up]

Thanks and have a good night.

The central obelisk in the J cluster of the map yields Technology 9 with Orb and Casket in Open.

Well gents, I give you the first site isolated solely based on an emerging pattern and the latency SC drop for pinpointing the location.

HIP 39768 A 14 F
Lat: 7.09, Long: 170.2
Type Beta/Hex, no new features immediately visible

Summary:
Multi-star system? Check.
Plenty of stellar bodies? Check.
Orbits a dwarf? Check.
Radius around 1500 KM? Check.
Gravity around 0.3 g? Check.
Temperature circa 300 K? Check
No volcanism? Check.
Commander having a migraine? Check.

Here's how I did it:
- looked for a system with multiple stars and possibly dwarfs near the locations mentioned in the Galnet article (Melville)
- scanned every body in there, though scanning landables only would suffice (actually now I have a feeling all data will become important soon)
- looked for planets meeting the mentioned criteria
- noticed there are only a handful of those at HIP 39768
- started with the one being the closest match
- took a full pass at 25 deg lat, -25 deg lat, then at the equator
- noticed increased time exiting supercruise
- pinpointed location by establishing the boundaries and finding their middle point

Found ruins on third pass of the first planet approached.

I believe the further you get into the general direction of the guardian bubble, the easier it is going to be to find ruins on planets sharing the particular set of similarities.

OK, from 24m based off 13m from the first Alpha site discovered, and 11m from the second Beta site discovered, here's the combos I've found at COL 173 SECTOR KY-Q D5-47 8 C (16.2701/18.1282).

Six combos, brings the available solo data up to 30m. I've only marked obelisks which yielded new data... undoubtedly if you went from scratch some of the others would yield data

zRlchhg.png

Off to the other Beta site on 8C to do the same.

PS. This is what I do... other people find the sites, I'll happily grind out the combos... I have a nice system which works for me now.
